I think maybe Ludleth implies that he was the one who linked the flame during the time of the dark firelink shrine?
From my understanding they were exiles from the Boreal Valley and, likely, invaders of Lothric per Sulyvahn’s command. Though the only major characters from Irithyll directly connected to Lothric are the Dancer and Vordt. It seems like Vordt was obsessed with the Dancer and followed her. The Boreal Valley was revered as a place of learning for the faith, and as faith took root in Lothric it sped the corruption of the place. Knowledge was being used to stem the tide against the corruption but seemed to be failing (or may have been its cause, given Oceiros, hard to say).
Folks what is the cheapest PC gfx card that will actually run this at a consistent 30-60fps at max settings 1080p?
Landed a new desktop machine for free, thought I might play a videogame with it
750ti but it’s due for a replacement soon
Okay
So if by some miracle I could score an MSI GTX 960 for a similar price, I’m good to go?
Gfx card shit baffles me a lot, and apparently this game is a more than a bit poorly optimised
wait for the 1060 if you can
Or buy the thing AMD is releasing this week if you trust their driver support
dlc got announced I think
Yep the trailer made it look like more dark souls which is definitely fatiguing at this point.
All of it looked like remixed stuff from main game/bloodborne.
There is a boomerrang miracle I bet it is as useless as all miracles.
I guess you fight again that thunder god bosss everyone complained about in the main game?
there’s footage of a couple main game bosses, for some reason,
From what I heard, the DLC is pretty much entirely just new weapons and a PVP arena
i think that was from some botched early announcement, it’s pretty clear there’s actual new stuff from this trailer
Lord Vessel Slam
No. Souls’ and BB’s DLC trailers showed stuff from the main game
i guess no one cares about this game any more but i recently started playing it and i like it a LOT so far, after being extremely disappointed with ds2
It’s real, real good, it just has no answer to why it should exist in a post-Bloodborne world.
I assumed it would figure out a way to reconcile RPG systems (loot + stats) with Bloodborne’s better action. I take Bloodborne’s simpler systems and reduced character building a necessary production step to focus in on action, but having delivered that, it’s a logical place to build out in your fantasy game. But oh well
It’s nice to have another game in that same setting, for the people who like it. It looks really pretty!
I wish they’d do a different setting for each game though. They’ve got gothic-fantasy and gothic-horror nailed down. Let’s see their take on gothic-sci-fi or something.
As long as we’re pitting this against Bloodborne: the longer I’ve gone without playing DrkS3 and Bloodborne, the fonder I grow of the latter and my experiences with it and the less the former seems to even exist. Now that we’ve gotten two followups I really do think that the first game could’ve stood on its own, even with the conversation-inspiring failures and oddities of 2 and the quality level designs of 3.
It’s kind of objectively a lot better than DS2 (with the one exception that DS2 has given more thought to multiplayer). At the same time it’s so lacking in anything very memorable or different or boundary-stretching that my sense is that DS2 will be one of those black sheep like Zelda 2 with a vocal contingent arguing it’s cool and underrated, while DS3 is just… DS3.
Don’t get me wrong, if DS1 and Demon’s and Bloodborne didn’t exist, I’d be frothing all over DS3 and calling it a true masterpiece. But they do, and… that context really matters a great deal, it turns out.
… aside from the lack of innovation, I feel they’re just having trouble coming up with freshly resonant themes in this well-milked fantasy setting. Was anybody moved by Oceiros’s plight? I wasn’t. I mean he’s tragic but in a generic and obvious way. He has a bit of a phoned in version of a typical Dark Souls backstory. He’s no Sif or Spider Sisters or Crossbreed Priscilla or Maiden Astraea. DS3 really has only one truly cool new idea to it, it’s Untended Graves.
From needs to take their gamer-popularity capital and reinvest it in some of their weirder old properties, like Evergrace or Echo Night.
