does buffing a shield even get you anything other than a few points of stability?
I just got enough chunks to bump my uchi up from +8 to +10 and the damage is north of 500 now with flame weapon, yeehaw

It gives you a few points of stability. I donāt know what stability points really mean but every point seems to make a big difference, at +10 it adds up to being as good as a greatshield even though itās a med shield. I canāt use an actual greatshield even though I have the STR because their lightning defense is uniformly shit for some reason. My battle plan involves turtling through entire combos and only going for the clear punishes since the guyās just too unpredictable, and I need to avoid getting guard broken. Actually I think heās more unpredictable than e.g. Orphan of Kos, this game feels free to have the wacky hesitations and followups because you do have the option to block.
I dunno, maybe Iāll go back to a dodge roll style later since the turtling also doubled as time to observe. But so far my experience has been: creep out of shell = instantly wrecked, so I might be stuck at a local maximum on this one.
No, unless you infuse it. Simple or Blessed are the only really useful shield infusions however. Still, much like spell buff, a āfew pointsā seems to equate to a lot less stamina lost while blocking.
Ah, good idea, Iāll try the Blessed infusion, I bet the regen will be noticeable at my upgrade level especially. And the way Iām approaching this fight itās interminable.
dude just co-op that and you can beat that boss super not difficult. I go help people beat that fight all the time because it is so much easier with another person.
I beat that idiot
Here are some things I donāt do in these games:
Summon help
Run from shit
Use magic
Use bows
Skip shit
We put on a sword and we hack at shit until it dies
Actually I kind of miss my full strength giant club build from DS2. Or did I do that in 1 Both
Congrats on your tough guy-ism, I guess. I like using all the tools a game gives me to play it, though.
Steam family sharing bugged out for me so I played this with my brother for four hours last night. Co-op is where these games come alive - I love invasions and spelunking with a stranger. The purple signs are a neat wrinkle into the cost of multiplayer.
There are a lot of viscerally upsetting monsters in this game, maybe more so than the Stoker parts of Bloodborne.
Well, I mean, youāre telling me that killing the boss is easier with two people than one. I did pass the first grade, so I think Iām pretty well up on that concept
So the boss isnāt the problem, just your own refusal to use the tools presented to you? Thatās cool, bro. I thought someone would have covered that for you in first grade, but the failures of American education shine through again.
Sometimes I just wanna fight my vidcon bosses the way god intended, booj. Donāt gotta fight me over it
You got a weird god then, as they clearly allowed a lot of stuff to be in their universe that you feel they disapprove of. I mean āperhaps the sameā¦ā but whatever. Suffer for your faith?
Worst Dark Souls thread ever
I soloed everything up until Sulyvahn and for the past few fights Iāve just been summoning whatever NPCs they want to give me
This thread has now turned into āThe Real Dark Souls Starts Hereā meme.

A pissing match over somebody not using spells in a video game
I donāt ever summon help in these games it makes me mega anxious
honestly I like that some of the bosses have NPC summons this go-round and some donāt, and also that casting during a bossfight doesnāt seem nearly as easy as it used to be in many cases. theyāve fixed both of those minor balance/playstyle issues from DkS too.
It really wasnāt that as much as the whole

tone of it all. It reeked of a lot of āgit gudā souls fanboyish boring crap that is one of the main reason I donāt talk about these games much with anyone.
I never feel bad about summoning or being summoned for co-op. Heck, it might be the part of the game I enjoy most.
Really? I havenāt had many issues tossing fireballs around, though I am not super far into the game.
