The Moogles say “ku PO” in this game, or even like “k’PO” sometimes and it is always how I heard it when I read it so I dunno what people want.

It is far from the worst part of the VA stuff in the game, though I actually kinda find the VA endearing in a early 00s way, which is funny as it wasn’t there then.

They really missed an opportunity to have the character writhe in pain while being disintegrated Thanos-style in the background during the deletion process.

Also, regarding FF critter catchphrases, choose your side: what’s the chocobo noise, wark or kweh?

i’m sad abt this game.
it just seems like such a lazy, loveless expenditure of money full of things no one asked for and missing the things that made it special in the first place.
there’s lots of big obvious problems like the horrible unnecessary anime voice acting (jesus christ why do american voice actors do that stilted fake old-timey accent shit it is seemingly exclusive to videogames and anime) and the absolutely comically botched “co-op” which restricts all player-to-player interactivity to dungeon crawling only and completely kills all sense of being a party going on a collective journey. yknow, the big emotional and experiential pull of the original game. oh also it’s region-locked online only like ??? both??? how? why???
but there’s heaps of little stuff too that’s like, not only disappointing but also confusing. for example, the opening monologue for each dungeon is delivered like it’s god damn 1995; the silence between each line is cut short so there’s no space for the speaker to breathe and they sound like they’re constantly interrupting themself. how do you even fuck that up? why is it multiple audio files and not one single delivery? the animation at the end of the monologue where a quill writes the name of the dungeon is also desynchronised? like the pen moves and about a half second later the text appears like come the fuck on it’s not that hard my guy.
there’s input delay! on a switch lite! and on ps4! how the fuck do u even accomplish that? in a game as simple as mother fucking crystal god damn chronicles!
this next one is really petty (as if the others weren’t already) and i know not everyone will agree but: i also think that the new water shader looks like fucking vomit and is not only ugly but lazy too. i’ve written my own water shaders and i know what’s involved, and the decisions made for this one are pathetically incompetent and unartistic.

i love crystal chronicles. it has had such a huge impact on the development of my own tastes and preferences, and it makes me so fuckn sad to see its face severed from its body and stuck onto the head of some horrible, careless, lousy facsimile, to be paraded around as if it were worth even one tenth the original work.

yeah i thought the square enix remaster squad had reached the bottom of their barrel with how they handled like 20 other projects before this but what they did to crystal chronicles really is depraved, i don’t know if i’ve seen anything like it before

Isn’t there a way to emulate crystal Chronicles on PC? Is there a “fuck this remake let’s go original” guide for that somewhere?

standard single-player emulation is super easy and stable, the problem (at least last time i looked) is the gba connection. i think i remember seeing someone running both a dolphin emulator and a gba emulator at the same time and connecting them somehow, but i confess i haven’t ever looked into it much cos i just have all the requisite hardware to run multiplayer at home.

Dolphin now has a GBA emulator built-in, though I’m not sure how it works for multiple GBA emulators. But in my experience, just one is extremely painless

hi have the entire Dolphin blog post about how they’re all insane madmen and women

in theory: sure, why not, if you make the memory card local to the host or passed it around

by all means, this is the most sensible approach to do it - if you spawn two different applications in two entirely separate address spaces (ASLR and all), setting up the shared mem regions and mapping them with access CTRL in both applications … while also considering task priorization and scheduling shenanigans you normally do not have any control over it… the obvious - really obvious - option indeed is to spawn it from the same parent process and take advantage of both running in the same process context … at least that’s what i would assume is their solution (clicks to read what they have to say)
