Watched this Sweet Tooth show over this vacation week and it was… it was fine, I guess. The thing it reminded me of most was the Battlestar Galactica remake in that it has no idea what tone to set with regards to its ostensibly post-apocalyptic context and so because there are wild swings in the practicality of everything you have to shut off your brain and just accept that exactly how desperate things are will be changed minute by minute in order to reach certain writing-room-mandated character beats. Therefore there can be no tension. There aren’t any individual episodes as good as the best BSG episodes though, don’t get that impression. The main kid is cute and his gruff surrogate father guy is cool so I mainly stuck around to root for them. The way the season wrapped up made me think they could resolve all their dangling plot threads with like 2 more episodes so I think the second season will be even more padded and plodding but we’ll see I guess.
