COD: BLOPS TRES (its free for plus boys)

hi everyone. i have not played a COD BLOPS since BLOPS the OG. This is free till the eleventh on Playstation Plus, for all you sick plus boys. I suck at it! really bad! 8 wins and 22 losses I think but it’s a lot of fun.

theres good gunfeel. matchmaking is broken and you always seem to be on a team with people who do not know how to breath and walk at the same time.

I have never played a BLOPS but I’ll play the singleplayer in this one, I’m never going to play CoD multiplayer, never ever.

Getting this one for “free” will hopefully satisfy my curiosity for all of time.

I like the Realistic difficulty setting. It’s, uh, very realistic. Like, if you get shot once or twice you are dead. Just like reality! And this is also true for the enemies so the mode isn’t unfair or super duper difficult. You just have to be a lot more careful in your approach and always have something you can hide behind while shooting.

I played Zombies with one of my nephews. He loves CoDBlops. He is like 11 years old and way better at Zombies than me. I am not very good at Zombies. I haven’t played any multi because everyone on there seems to only know how to shoot me in the head moments after I spawn in. It’s a beast.

I honestly cannot believe CoD had the nuts to do this.

Producer Jason Blundell tells XboxAchievements, “[In Realistic] you have one point of life, so if you’re shot once, you’re dead. It completely changes the way you play the game."

i’ve been playing the multiplayer non-stop since it became free. you kind of underestimate how many 8 year old boys like saying the n-word before playing a call of duty game.

i made my emblem say “america sux” because i want a ps4 veteran to send me hatemail

In the mood for a 60fps shooter that isn’t Overwatch or Titanfall so I guess I’ll give this a shot when it’s done downloading.

didn’t expect this to be so glacially slow, but titanfall 2 was the last cod game i played.

TF2 is certainly better than this.

So quickly apathetic to the who what why. Is this guy gonna betray me? Am I supposed to enjoy this soft edge hyper masculinism? Ahh the women choices are all…the exact same woman with different hair and tan levels.

I broke my receiver playing this game once cause the pc version has splitscreen and I set a giant resolution to stretch across to my tv to have a screen per monitor. All I remember about the game was it being a nonstop demoralizing assault of dumb shit not remotely worth the pain in the ass of soldering new capacitors into the receiver’s hdmi board after

i blew a guy up by cooking a grenade long enough that it caved his face in moments from hitting him right in the head and then slide-ran into a wall

Infinite Warfare has a Specialist difficulty mode which feels like classic Deus Ex on Realistic but under fire, wherein getting shot in limbs affects your aim, your ability to wield two items at once and your mobility. Also you need to carry helmets, because headshots are instant death, and health syringes to heal up.

Incidentally it’s the best campaign since Black Ops II and is written by Brian Bloom, doing Gundam fanfic.

There are a lot of urban spaces in any map list in a Call of Duty game. Frequent killboxes (a term to denote a room with multiple entrances with no cover) can be living rooms, kitchens. Loft bedrooms.
As the type of person who’s no stranger to first person shooters, Call of Duty: Black Ops III in particular has me re-evaluating my own furniture placement.

Personally, the idea of murdering someone in their own home for me is a pretty foreign one. Even if Hotline Miami re-textured the idea of a home as a place meant to be invaded, where every door was a bludgeon and the items we covet for home defense are turned against us, Call of Dut- (let’s just call it BLOPS III from here, ok) BLOPS III turns every space into a killing space.

Usually something like BLOPS III would stay pretty foreign to me. I was lured in by the promise of a free game on Playstation Plus in a month where I have no cash to spend. My wallet is filled with dust and my stomach is empty this month in particular because I’m not only jobless, I’m losing my house.

If you’ve never been forced to leave a place with nowhere to go afterwards it’s a stressful experience. I’ve been looking over all of the shit I’ve piled up from comic-conventions and online stores over the last two years. All of it gets boxed up, but to go nowhere in particular. It could all end up landfill.

COD: BLOPS III beckoned me on a night just after I’d lost my job. This isn’t the distant memory or me recollecting on how a videogame helped me through a rough place. It was the eleventh of this month, June 2018. Just a day after my hours at my job were cut so badly I had to plead with an indifferent manager who knew I’d be trying to support myself on my own.

Videogames can be an interactive comfort food, but those are always the ones I have some kind of emotional connection to. I wasn’t drawn to BLOPS III because of the gruffness of the space marines, or the undercut of the gentle-but masculine lady marines.

Specifically, BLOPS III got me because of the ability to put me in a kind of murder-meditation. Quick rounds of multiplayer with very little frills. 56% of the entire community of the game can generally be found in team deathmatch. No goalposts or objectives except one: kill the other team as much as possible.

Ideally, a multiplayer shooter should get you in that meditative trance I was talking about earlier. The first multiplayer modes in first person shooters did it with relatively simple mechanics and aesthetics. BLOPS III has all of the weight of todays giant-budget games. People were probably displaced from their homes to make a game this large. Who knows: maybe the empty interiors of urban maps echo with ghosts of people displaced from homes used as reference art.

Boxes and boxes of my stuff are starting to line the walls. When my roommate left out, maybe a week of this month was spent just selling his belongings so I’d have money to get by. I’m chasing this dream of getting a deposit back on a relatively slum-like apartment that I’ve lived sloppily in for two years. Every piece of furniture sold or videogame traded leaves another rectangle-outline of dust somewhere.

Weeknights, I’ve been returning to BLOPS III for several hours at a time.

i haven’t played one of these things since mw2 and this one has me curious, i’ve really wanted to play a good multi fps lately and quake champions turned out to be a dud plus the battle royale mode seems to be the first of these things that isn’t a total jankfest?

Blackout is great. It is really the main attraction this time around, and having a 60fps BR game on console that has a clean aesthetic is awesome.

My big complaint about Blackout is more an issue with weapon designs in the BO universe in general. Most guns look like mishmashes of a bunch of different guns and gun types, so when you pick up a weapon for the first time, it isn’t immediately clear what kind of gun it actually is. The only real way to tell is to shoot it, but doing so gives away free information to people around you, and that isn’t optimal.

Multiplayer seems fine to me. The time to kill is much faster than I’m used to from other console games, so I’m dying a lot and I tend to stick to game modes (Hardpoint) where repeated deaths don’t cause the opposing team to snowball uncontrollably. The flagship mode, Control, spawns two objectives to capture on the map and have you alternate between defending and attacking. Each team has a pool of ~25 lives shared across all team members, and if you exhaust the opposing team’s pool of lives, you automatically win that round. Seems like a sweet mode, but I immediately feel responsible for my team losing whenever I play it, and then feel really bad and go back to Hardpoint.

There are some bordering-on-unfair builds in multiplayer, but luckily they all involve the default assault rifle so you don’t need to play for very long to be on par with the top-tier builds.

I don’t know anything about Zombies.
