i don’t really remember anything about the actual show, but i do remember liking the theme song but also thinking it was really dumb, and i’d sing along, kind of making fun of it

the most I’ve seen of the 90s Spiderman TAS was some random twitch stream showing it in Spanish

it was fucking exhausting as someone who doesn’t know Spanish and I have absolutely no idea if I could even keep up if I could understand what everyone was saying, kind of like the worst of executive thinking that kids always need noise or they lose interest

SPIDERBLOOD SPIDERBOOOD SPIDERBLOOD

i remember seeing a couple isolated episodes that had Madame Webb in them and was like “who??” and then that Madame Webb movie came out the other day and i was like, WHO???

That is my experience exactly lol

I lived on that pilot for years and the announcement of the show sent me straight to the moon

Melissa works at Nick and apparently there’s a lot of internal chagrin about not picking that show up and handing Cartoon Network a hit

Oh jeez im sure, like, a hit + the entire fulcrum of kids cartoons from then until the present day onward

I am rewatching Adventure Time and i loved it from the beginning!! HES NOT MY DOG HES MY FRIEND but there’s like a slow power charge over the first 3 seasons where certain episodes make me go from “i love this show” to “god i LOVE this show” to "GOD i LOVE this show" etc etc. and so forth

Nick would have buried their show and given it dead slots, as soon as it did not make Spongebob numbers. They have done this to show that were gaining the audience they needed, but not as quick as Nick expected. Cartoons like Making Fiends, Edgar & Ellen, Welcome to the Wayne, Harvey Beaks, etc. are sent to die on the Nicktoons Network, which is a higher priced cable channel. Making Fiends suffered the worst fate. Ratings were good, but it got cut short after just 6 episodes (12 segments). Unaired, but finished episodes are rumored to exist. Nick got all the rights to the IP, just like their pilots, the creators can’t make any merchandise or continue their own work by themselves or from another channel. Amy Winfrey was not only fucked, she got fucked hard. She lost her work just for six episodes, despite having ratings and having built a following. No official reason and explanation has ever been given. My guess is that a big suit hated the show and wanted it gone, because their vision for the brand did not include “morbid” Addams Family humor, which did not stop Edgar & Ellen from getting more content and being reran to death. Invader Zim is more morbid than those two, and the fans were too big for Nick to ignore, even if they secretly hated on the show. I don’t think we will be seeing a Making Fiends movie or a comic book reboot, alas.

All indications from Melissa support the idea that the entire company and its parent (the now all-encompassing Paramount) are horrendously poorly run. There’s no unified vision.

I’m shocked Rise of the TMMT was made because it was such a weird spin in the IP. By contrast Mutant Mayhem is kinda conservative.

The Ninja Turtles is like Batman, where you can make it work as either too silly or too serious. Nick’s last Ninja Turtles series had several seasons. They were right to think Rise was going to get them viewers, but like Beware the Batman did poorly due to low promotion, Nick were really shit at advertising Rise. They had an established IP that could print money in the right hands, and that Batman film with the Ninja Turtles crossover is proof you can still make younger people give a shit with decades’ old characters. The change to Beware the Batman and Rise was not what cut them short, it was their poor management and poor advertising.

For the love of god, we really need more variety.

The Family Guy “adult cartoon” look is miserable.

When they develop these shows (cartoon tv sitcoms) they’re developing the look based on a big binder full of various cartoon eyes, noses, feet, etc. that was probably made by some suit somewhere so the whole thing could be owned by the company instead of an individual creative person.

At least this is what Bill Burr said about how they developed the look of the characters of F is for Family.

It’s no wonder they all look the same.
