That must be from this documentary that got added to Amazon, which I didn’t see anything about. Posting here for those with interest.
The use of previz helped them craft never-before-seen nonsensical angles for the male gaze with stunning anatomical accuracy for animation

It will never be over.
[hideaki anno needs some money to go to the corner store and get a coke] hey uh here’s my new evangelion series
my hope is that anno continues to not be able to help himself so it slowly devalues the ‘meaning’ of 3.0+1.0 so severely that people have to stop looking past all the epic visions of an ephebophile in it and are actually forced to admit this guys whole pathetic otaku schtick is a little tiresome. a lot of people think its cute because of the documentaries and his wifes manga but like the way shes monetized him being like a fucking loser is really cynical to me
evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 + 2.0: you must (not) retire
aaagh just take your own advice already and move on, my man
i want to see anno’s Death Stranding
anno’s death stranding wouldn’t have awesome shit like guillermo del toro pinning norman reedus to the wall in his tiny baby shower for an uncomfortable amount of time because it reminds kojima of gay art he saw once though. god just imagine any of the cutscenes about women in death stranding but made by the eva guys. AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH

well, we finally got the ending we all wanted: shinji running away to be with :checks notes: mari
Writing your wife as a sexualized self-insert is some real megatokyo shit
this is the backbone of paul w.s. anderson’s career how dare you
cinema’s greatest wife guy
yeah but he eats his vegetables
oops i replied to the wrong post
I thought he came across as much less of a loser as presented in insufficient direction than I thought of him just being the evangelion guy
Really impressed with all the balls this film carried and how it managed to resolve so many lines. It will stay with me for a good while.
Plenty of overt symbolism and stating the message over and over while also letting things exist as a look or a flick of the eyes. Acknowledging 25 years of media and fandom and the traps that leads in story telling. Following Final Fantasy 7 Remake maybe this is a pattern in pop culture for Millenials as we enter middle age.
Maybe it’s okay that every day is the same. That keeps the next generation safe and happy.
Ah there’s another term paper for the cycical notion of retelling the same story versus every day being the same. Except every day being the same is still a forward movement in time and experience. Where this film points at a pile of toys and dvds and says “you still have this.”
And plenty of Fan Service.
