Remember that time a fading Sierra made their own hobbit game?

Did I ever talk about the amount of secondhand embarrassment I feel about these Daedalic games being the prime export of Germany‘s vidcon industry
Though I guess there’s also the Anno series and various agricultural simulations which I have to respect

The time right after the movies came out yet some game publishers could only get the license for the books because EA held the exclusive rights to the movies.

all LotR games should look like the LotR MOBA that no one wants to acknowledge existing

They changed it to a boxed release six months before launch! They decided it needed to sell as single-player!

I still think fondly of the Sierra Fellowship of the Ring game in which the copy protection scheme involved several in-game text boxes requiring you to look up paragraphs from the game manual, and so the manual had like ten pages of bogus text included as well so that it wasn’t obvious which ones were needed. It was fascinating to see alternate interpretations for situations like the one in Bree play out in four or five different ways.

this game is verging on just okay, it’s…fine

i keep telling myself that having a handheld gaming system would be great, but tbh my pixel 3 + 8bitdo m30 pad + retroarch seems to work well enough? it’s processor is even able to run animal crossing on the gamecube on the dolphin, though retroarch has a hard time loading most arcade games

the digi dock and gp win 2 looks great though, damn

I worked with a guy who had a GP Win and he loved that dang thing, not only for emulator use; he could run a ton of regular PC games on ultra-low settings.

wow, rpgfan still fuckin exists. I remember when it first split off from lunarnet. in the 90s. yikes.

Super Retro Handheld is cute as heck.

Also nice to have a pirate handheld reviewer that isn’t 4chan. But does :parish: a lot in his videos apologizing for ROMS.

Some of these things just connect to a rom store.

I intensely disliked that Wizardry game but I can’t remember exactly why. Kinda remember it feeling super low budget but in a real charmless way? Early dungeons that were lots of wide open rooms with teleports scattered around? I think it pissed me off enough that I got into an online argument with someone about it but I can’t remember where that was and it bums me out cuz I know I’m right, I know that Wizardry was not very good.

They should port the Dark Spire to everything.

This is a weird mix of art styles

I kind of like how NGPC-port Mighty Final Fight the sprites look.

That Sol is the Wonderswan Color version

I’m extremely triggered by the lower left… thing not having black outlines like the others.

Also the non-pixel art style is a really obvious Tangled-the-series ripoff.
