First reaction: there can’t just be 3 classes right

Second reaction: the only thing Blizzard is actually good at is CGI cutscenes

i never played much of any diablo because i don’t like how the class is tied to the character when it seems like these characters have no personality or anything anyway so why do the classes need to be tied to the characters

i watched this and when it cut to the gameplay footage i actually laughed at like… how much like Diablo it looks i guess

i mean if it ain’t broke i suppose

but i still expected something a little more radical to justify the IV

I wonder why they are explicitly developing this for ps4/xbone, when they’re also saying it “won’t even be out ‘blizzard soon’,” which means maybe late 2022 or something.

It’s not just me right? These graphics look awful. Like I don’t think I’ve seen a AAA game with aesthetics this bad since the 360 awful.

It looks like it has all the limitations of a low budget game but with tons of little details indicating how much money got poured into making a game with absolutely no aesthetics whatsoever.

Diablo 2 didn’t exactly blow my mind visually even back in the day but it’s worlds better looking that this. Just plopping a few bright colors in there changes everything.

i liked being a demon hunter with no pants. i just liked the thought of going out to kill all the princes of hell or whatever and forgetting my pants, it makes the game more nightmarish

yeah they have a lot of work to do there. I don’t agree that it’s directionless, but it doesn’t look good. some of the stills look fine to me, and I don’t mind The Board Mandated Focus On Darkness, but the animations are bad and right now what they’re showing is mostly just a bunch of grey sludge. it’s uneven

lol sounds like they nailed the Diablo 2 aesthetic perfectly then

I’m having trouble finding it but, I swear when it came out they ran an ad which said “Get Ready to Die”. Which is of course, all too similar to Dark Souls’ famous “Prepare to Die”.

Well, I think that was a lot of the point of Diablo 3. I haven’t been interested in these types of games for a long time. But, when Diablo 3 previews were coming out, it certainly looked like they were trying to further the genre and presentation. Even though it did look a little too much like WoW, in the visuals.

The gamepaly trailer for 4 looks----exactly like Diablo 2 but with 3D graphics. So…good. But, yeah, we’ve had that game for a loooong time, now.
But, guaging innovation and “goodness” in this genre is very damn tough. I did play a fair amount of Grim Dawn co-op with a friend, like a year ago. That game gets a lot of love and I thought it was pretty boring. And the amount of times you have to go back to town to sell shit was super annoying.

Fuck Bliz-Acc solidarity with Hong Kong.

You gotta wonder how people in Diabloworld even get up in the morning. Every generation a hellportal opens up and there’s an apocalyptic hellwar in a world with the infrastructure of 13th century Europe. Where the hell do all these huge stone buildings come from, how do they even grow wheat to make fucking bread when every third season the satans come and burn everything again

Pretty sure the game is so dark to hide all the unfinished assets as they rush this trailer out ahead of blizzcon to sway public opinion back in their favour

Magic, duh.

4 looks fine, that trailer shows the crunchiness of 3’s combat and seemingly the class and encounter design of 2

the main thing the visual design needs to shoot for is being readable when everything is happening, something I can kind of give credit to 3 and which I would give Path of Exile grief over at times

also fuck corporate Actiblizz (but not the devs)

Haha, I almost said something like even though this is exactly what people wanted last time around: can’t wait to see all the bitching about how they can’t see the enemies.

Its been happening with Battlefield V: there’s too much rubble everywhere. I can’t see the enemies in this realistically blown out terrain.
