Yeah, if they were just super standard turn-based combat I’d be much more down. As it is, the janky action-y combat is just tiresome to mash through after a few hours.

I’m noting all of you shitting on the combat in Tales games and squinting suspiciously because I think some of you are on record as liking musou games :unamused:

Musou games have more interesting and involved combat than Tales games. (The last Tales game I put a decent amount of time into was probably Symphonia 2 though so maybe they’ve gotten better.)

Tales of Phantasia had better combat than the best, most adventurous musou, whatever that is

Tales of games are for 13-17 year olds. They are to be played by that age range and are. It is not a series you keep up with.

Tell that to the adults on my timeline who play nothing but Tales games.

It was more the loopsnof games that wore me down. If you wanted to get fancy you’d eat through your skill meter so youd spend the next fight using just normal stings to build it back up without spending an item. I’ve seen videos of people doing the work on these games but i just don’t find them that engaging to put the work into.

Also don’t like many musous for the record. I think the best I’ve played are Hyrule Warriors and the One Piece musous.

This one is a departure! I mean they were life management/SRPG-lite before. Now it is going to be life management/action. Which heck yeah.

I will consider picking it up in December, but will probably be bogged down by Indivisible/Death Stranding/Shenmue.

I was going to probably ignore New Sakura Taisen because I’m lazy even though I like some of the goofier shit (one of the robots has a giant tome for casting magic, which is so many layers of confusing that I don’t think I can even begin unraveling that mess)

but then I clicked an article thing about them adding a new character and I saw the German leader is fucking voiced by Nana Mizuki and I instantly heard the voice she’s probably gonna use and now I’m sold, in the stupidest and most ridiculous manner possible

the only thing Sega could do to make me happier is to change Project Diva Megamix’s name back to Mega39s

may God judge me thusly
