really hoping they stream that shit

The last time my partner watched a JP play stream, she had to download a special pc program to view it and could only stream/watch it for a specific two day period at like ok quality and even then it cost like $80 for tickets for it lol

Was thinking about the PC fan port of Rondo of Blood, and how Cho Ren Sha 68k was released online, and was wondering if there was an equivalent for the Sharp X68000 version of Castlevania?

Admittedly, I don’t know what the status of Sharp X68000 emulation is like.

i don’t know the answer to your first question, but x68000 emulation is good. i’ve been using xm6g for eons without issue

Still wild to me how Castlevania: The Adventure ReBirth hasn’t been rereleased and the Castlevania Requiem bundle is PS4 only.

they should really put all the ReBirth games together in one package - not all of them were great but they were all at least very good

They all work fantastically in Dolphin.

i’m sure they do but i doubt my crummy windows laptop can run Wii games?

it would be shocking if it couldn’t… my desktop could run dolphin in 2009 and I don’t think there’s a single laptop made in the last 5 years that’s not more powerful than that desktop

wii and gc emulation emulation requirements is very game specific but i think the rebirth games are pretty low on that, since my potato laptop that gets shamed by predecessors 8 years older than itself runs them good

So thanks to this thread, on my 2.4GHz processor from 2017ish, all 3 rebirth games seem fine except when something taxing happens like the big multi-sprite explosion at the beginning of contra. I only ever had castlevania back in the day so I’m looking forward to trying the other two.

It’s interesting how performance is per-game, I only ever tried gamecube games (which are all big budget 3d games) and because they ran poorly I never even bothered with wii games.

Nothing else I wanted to play works well but I tried mega man 9 just to confirm that 2d games are fine and it seems like yes, the game can’t have any 3d going on whatsoever.

So much of the start of this video is just describing how you play Castlevania normally, then describing it as secret speedrunner tech. However after describing damage boosting through ceilings as being against Twin Galaxies’ rules for speedruns I thought there was no way that was true. And yet

TGTS Settings [3 Lives to Start, 5 Lives Maximum]
Special Rules: Timer begins when you hit the Start Button on the Title Screen and ends when you register the final blow on Count Dracula in his final form. You may NOT walk through walls or on the top of ceilings at any time! You must complete the game or your record/attempt will be disqualified.
