Blizzard TF2

definitely love how I can do good in one match on overwatch at low level, and then get matchmade with people who are all level 25+ who have been playing since the game released and get owned and then get shunted back down the skill level bracket

Getting to level 25 doesn’t take a bunch of time, the people who have been playing since launch will be like, level 100-200+ and level is just an indicator of time spent at the end of the day. Yes, people who are higher level will know their way around the game better than you do, but that doesn’t mean that they’re as skilled as you are.

This will become readily apparent if you decide to jump into ranked play, where the skill level is divorced from the account level.

my matchmaking experience has just definitely been all over the place, I just owned a round as d.va and hanzo and then got shunted to a bracket with level 50/60 players when I’ve really just had enough time to kind of learn maybe three or four characters and a map or two and got stuck as a team

im definitely enjoying junkrat in these rounds, as hes the closest to the Pyro in TF2’s W+m1 skill bracket
I finally learned how to play d.va last night after several rounds

You have to remember, too, that sometimes even evenly-matched teams stomp each other. If you watch pro games, you might see Team A completely stomp Team B on the first couple King of the Hill rounds, and then Team B comes back and completely stomps A and closes the set.

Team competition, map, and who’s playing which characters all make a really large difference.

It was fun to randomly run into @Telengard online today. He trashed our full group.

Oh I actually followed you in hoping we could get on the same team! I spectated you for a round, but no one dropped on your team in between matches, so we were on opposite sides.

NEVER NOT BE DYING is my play style

Fighting games have a lot more staying power than multiplayer FPS, I think largely because of the team aspect. The frustration point is much lower with team-based FPS, and the necessary population to have a good time is much higher.

My harddrive decided to die on me the last time I posted in this thread so I am totally prepared to be terrible at this game again. I added several of you to BNet so if you see Miskatonik online we should try to play together

Yeah my computer died too. So there was no pc gaming for me. I’ll have a new one up and running in a few days if everything goes well

Wow, Ana’s already in the patch today. Didn’t leave her in PTR for very long

In other patch news, Hanzo won’t get as many headshots now - it’ll be interesting to see if people actually change who/how they play or if it’s still all ninjas all the time. Mercy’s gun got nerfed too

Whyyyyyy

I’m not seeing that in the patch notes. The only thing that might cover that is the projectile change, but I thought it was less changing the hitboxes, and more handling the specific case of shooting around corners. I think the hitboxes act pretty similarly when shooting in the open.

Not that reddit is always the best source, but the consensus on /r/overwatch seems to be that all projectiles had their hitboxes reduced

OH MAN i love these d.va buffs so much

Yeah I think the changes to her Defense Matrix make her way more interesting to play

Oh wow, apparently the patch dropped mid tourney for some ESL event, and a bunch of teams immediately started playing D.Va and Zenyatta.

Like, that should never happen in the first place what the heck, but man that is awesome.

D. Va has been my go to for the past couple of weeks (don’t worry Zarya, I still got mad love for you) and she already was pretty amazing, but her changes are making her just such a beast. Being able to just chill out while my suit blows up is great.

OK i’m bored of ANA next please.

I finally got around to playing the new patch and I discovered that I had forgotten that the reason I like Widowmaker even though she is a boring sniper, is because she has a French accent/ she has a cool grappling hook. Ana, having no fun movement options, is just a boring sniper. And now I’ll get a million drops for her and not characters I like :frowning:

Can’t complain about the D.Va changes, though. When I get more used to the patch,I’ll probably swing back into competitive to learn that it doesn’t work on the good people of rank 50, but, as of right now, I have yet to use a self-destruct resulting in less than 3 kills. It’s like the beta all over again, except you get them faster too.

Well I hear that. I know a lot of people like ana because she does well just skirting the battle. And if you can snipe she’s a hoss, and a true support character with the healing and grenade as well.

What I can’t get past is Bastion hasn’t seemed to change despite being the most complained about character, and with good reason.
I still feel like the game would be better with that one removed.
