Where is Chaotix?
I would also put Paris-Dakar Rally Special here but I honestly think that game rules and is unironically good
In the bit of time I spent actually playing like, the first level or two of Kirby DL3 I don’t want to consider it a kusoge myself because it’s beautiful, light and friendly and littered with weird cool little secret unexplained interactions but I can totally understand why it would play that way to folks and just don’t want to tarnish the half-formed ideal image of the game in my head.
at least half the games in this thread are great. you’re all miserable failures
A kusoport maybe? Though I guess like its fellow launch game Space Harrier 2 it’s a different game using elements of the original rather than a port
Did anyone post Steep Slope Sliders yet
Always loved this game since I rented it as child, everything about it, captured my imagination, internet goes overboard on the hate just because it’s cliche and sure, vid writers 15 years ago had to get their start somehow
Great pick
I think mystic quests fatal flaw is just that it’s boring, ive otherwise always kinda liked it
Actraiser
maybe not “bad” but I think the music really carries the mood in a lot of this game
I was obsessed with this game as a kid but couldn’t find it to rent because of this contest:
After the game’s release in late 1991, players had until 12PM on April 11, 1992 to practice beating the game. At this time, MTV revealed a secret [password]. By entering in this password and the game’s serial number before beginning the game, players unlocked a secret sixth Prize World level. After this, players had until midnight to complete the entire game, including the Prize World. This prompted the game to reveal a 24-character code. By calling in to a special hotline with this code, players had a chance at winning one of 36,252 prizes.
If I remember correctly the top prize was an insane amount of money for the time.
this game was very possibly the best snowboarding game ever made when it was released originally (1997), so idk if it should count! the only competition was cool boarders 2, which i would argue is somewhat worse than SSS. it wasn’t until the next year, 1998, when 1080 would be released and SSX isn’t until 2000
just for the record, SSS was reviewed very well when it was released, and it is a surprisngly good racing game overall… it’s just extremely weird and was released with very bad timing. 1080 was just such a quantum leap for the snowboarding game format that it makes everything before it (and most of the stuff that came after, including its own sequel) look pretty bad
Super Smash Bros. Brawl had some pretty good remixes at the time. Obviously a lot of that music is just included in subsequent Smash games but Brawl was notably ‘bad’
