I guess I can mention here that I got invited to be on a jury for a puzzle game of the year awards dealie elsewhere. No I am not entirely sure how, I think I’ll end up having to turn it down as I’ve played like maybe two games likely to end up nominated (I am 90% sure I can guess every game that’ll be up for the main award, the side ones might have surprises though), I will admit being tempted to join just to tank Blue Prince’s chances solely because I didn’t care for its demo >_>

So the game awards are tonight.
For me it runs midnight to 4am. I’ve been off work ill and am due to lecture first thing in the morning so am considering a skip this year. But there’s a little part of me that wants to suffer rather than read the headlines tomorrow morning and go ‘oh’.
Even if I skip it I’ll probably watch the vod.

Looks like they might be announcing a remake of Tomb Raider 1, the next mainline Tomb Raider game and the long rumored Black Flag remake. Kind of interested in all of that, mainly Black Flag. Trailers for the Tomb Raiders leaked earlier but I haven’t seen them and they keep getting taken down so I might keep this on in the background to see that.

I’m already flagging and it hasn’t even started. Hope everyone has a good time ignoring/enduring it. I’ll skim the headlines tomorrow and find out I missed live announcements of the new golden age of gaming and Geoff being held hostage by a disgruntled GTA6 fan.
Curious how the medley will sound this year.
There will be at least two AI slop games announced. You can count on that.
One will be Chinese, one will be Saudi-funded.

It looks like they’re trying to ape the graphical style of the of Tomb Raider cinematics but that might just the streaming resolution smearing it up.

I love having to have a big emotional trailer about the impact of video game storytelling but having to include both Donkey Kong and a live action Catherine O’Hara in it. fantastic stuff
also I kind of love that Elle Fanning was this year in a Joachim Trier movie, a Predator movie, and a Kojima game. maybe she’s trying to get me to ask her out, can’t imagine why else you would make those particular career choices
