One of the funniest callbacks/jokes in this game to me was that both the worst pilot in the game and the best pilot in the game die screaming the name of their AC
Howdy. Yeah, that was a fun episode too.
Hey there! Looks like some of those old reviews are still available on bordersdown.net. Its hard to recall that far back, but I think these reviews were my introduction to armored core.
Thatās the new/archived ntsc-uk? I think I reviewed a few of the older Armored Core games for them, as well as gamestyle. I think I even reviewed some of those games for insert credit. Itās been a while.
If you are curious, most of my mecha game specific game reviews are here:

My regular game reviews are listed here:
With my review of Armored Core VI being here:
Finally, here are my playthrough videos of all the final missions from every Armored Core game.
Chapter 3 boss is so, so good, itās almost like they managed to find a can of ACFA somewhere and sprinkled it across AC6 sourcecode, and the end result is just magic.
Mechanically satisfying, presentation-wise a blast ( ) and with the right kind of good humored banter between very different personalities a great time. Had to restart a few times to get the timing right, and settled on 3x assault armor, mix of energy and explosive damage, rest was getting the execution right.
My fav mission so far!
Thanks all for the advice, I managed to overcome the mission. I used twin Zimmerman and twin Songbirds on a Quad. In the last combat area, as you suggested, it was fundamental to reach the jump pad immediately, which put me in advantageous position to face the wave of enemies.
Then I did another, easier mission, with the same setup.
Itās been at least a couple of months since the last time I had played, but it was pretty easy to get back into the game.
What a masterpiece.
I finished the first loop and I am now stuck at āPrisoner Rescueā mission (NG+). I reach the final part of the mission but the helicopter I am escorting gets constantly destroyed. Any advice on which build I should use? I am using the usual quad with Zimmermann and Songbirds, but itās possible that the Zimmerman are not so suited for so many enemiesā¦ I might try the gatlings, but are there maybe some plasma rifles or other weapons that are well suited for this mission?
Gatlings, ransetsu, drone shoulder launchers, multi lock missiles all viable. There are a few missions that just require this.
the important thing about that mission is that everything but the final wave is already spawned on the map when it loads, you can rush ahead and kill everything without exposing the helicopter to any danger until the very end. maybe try the ransetsu-rf since youāll be engaging lots of small trash enemies from far away
Thanks guys! I managed to win the mission using the gatlings at first try.
The Zimmerman really were useless for that kind of mission (although they are wonderful in many situations).
My ps4 is offline, so my version of the game is still 1.0.1
Linear Rifle is really underrated too for missions like that. Aside from using it to snipe, mashing its basic non-charge attack at midrange can melt fast-moving enemies
Tried playing this game again for the first time after I beat NG 6 months ago, and while still fumbling with the controls I beat the first mission I dropped into (a NG+-specific chapter 3 mission) on the first try.
2x laser rifle/2x songbird on a minitank is still strong after all the balance changes apparently
I just beat this routeās final boss on the first try too??
yeah something about this game makes it so that everything you learn about the rhythms and techniques of robot fightinā sticks in a way that it doesnāt really in other games, even other fromsoft games imo
This is true and its invisible.
Finally beat the third loop as Mr Freedom.
Well I did cheat and make Mr Freedom Lite when I couldnāt beat one area due to Freedomās slow speed.
The good news is you donāt need to make 100% of the correct path decisions to get there.
The true final boss concept reminds me of The Furtive Pygmy in Dark Souls. Except instead of the Pygmy being (arguably) you the player, itās the NPC you least suspected, and your job is to put them back in their place
Just wanted to share that I finished the game (and loved it). The last boss (third loop) was quite easy with the usual combo of stun needle and Zimmerman. So was the augmented Balteus of the former loop.
The Ibis, for example, was a much stronger foe than the end game ones, at least in my experience.
The Ibis is the easiest boss in the game with the right loadout and strategy, but itās very different from what works best on everyone else. (2x linear rifle, medium/long-range-focused FCS, mash basic LT/RT attack. Thereās no need to concentrate high-impact attacks on Ibis, it will melt if you reliably and continuously hit it with weak attacks.) I enjoyed it because it especially rewarded experimentation
I just googled āIbis ac6ā out of curiosity and I found a bunch of SEO sites that recommend approaches that sound much harder to reliably execute than mine.
I donāt know whether to be annoyed or pleased that nowadays search results for bosses are a writeup of whatever approach some overworked contractor discovered to beat the boss less than 24 hours after the game was released, and then never updated again. At least this makes it harder to cheat yourself out of the intended experience
it will melt if you reliably and continuously hit it with weak attacks
This is the strategy I ended up feeling my way toward for the entire game and for PvP up until the 1.05 patch. Ransetsu RF + HU-BEN + FASAN + Plasma Missile Launcher and later on Laser Drone. Alternate fire with all four and constantly throw something out, my index fingers are on the shoulder buttons and middle fingers are on the shoulder triggers moving the entire time. If you time it correctly, it near-instantly builds stagger and everything is reloaded/cooled down in time to also be a massive direct hit punishment. Most bosses and most other builds go down within three cycles of this.
