I’m pretty into Fast 8 production news, y’all.

  • TMZ reports that while shooting in Iceland a piece of prop iceberg flew into a neighboring horse*.
  • Lucas Black (Sean “Wabaki” “bama_boy” Boswell) and Eva Mendes (Monica Fuentes) are back.
  • F. Gary Gray of Friday, the Italian Job remake, and Straight Outta Compton is directing and might even make it less corny!

*Unfortunately the horse was a) unrelated to the production and b) had to be euthanized after sustaining this injury. ;_;

i unashamedly love this series and will be seeing the 8th one with my closest friends the day it comes out as i did with the 7th. v bummed to hear about that horse :<

big big ups to the series for being genuinely about friendship and the idea of friends-as-family and for carrying vin diesel’s goal of featuring a very multiethnic cast primarily comprised of people of color. it’s great! and it wraps all that around some goofy car shit that i can’t not smile at.

hoping for a sci-fi reboot called Fast Infinity (or Fast sideways 8) where Vin does a quarter mile so fast, he travels back and forward through time, racing horses and space Mustangs alike

I really feel like the F&F team should cross over with another major franchise, a la that Men in Black meets 21 Jump Street concept that was made public during the Sony leak fiasco

Like how amazing would Fast & Furious vs. Mission Impossible be, but apparently they are made by different studios

I guess there’s Bourne but somehow that doesn’t seem like it would work as well. Wrong tone.

Oh: Fast & Furious: Death Race would be cool. Just like, Vin Diesel: Fury Road it up

well, horse-killing during production does bring this franchise one step closer to Tarkovsky, so I guess we can definitively say that Fast and Furious is art.

There were plans to make a Furiosa animated thing at one point but that fizzled out with Production Delays.
