Afro and Latin Music

Afro and Latin adjacent music and Afro and Latin influenced genres. Post about hip hop, house, r&b, jazz, techno, soul, disco, funk, blues, reggae, downtempo, electro, dancehall, nu metal, ska, trip hop, mpb, samba, dub, rap rock, cumbia, sophisti-pop, salsa, bossa nova, wonky, beatdown hardcore, fado, latin electronic, shibuya-kei, barber beats, latin alternative, afrobeat, illbient, broken beat, electro swing, zydeco, akishibu-kei, manguebeat, etc.

These genres are only my examples. They don’t have to be 100% adjacent and/or influenced. Don’t hesitate with anything that you feel might fit. There are countless sub genres and scenes out there. I believe in musical bridges and genre crossovers. Any language and any nationality. Any ethnicity and any culture. Instrumental and vocals. Afro and Latin genres have reached many places. This thread aims to be both old and new. Because no genre exists in a vacuum. For example:

Jazz Rap was an attempt to fuse African-American music of the past with a newly dominant form of the present, paying tribute to and reinvigorating the former while expanding the horizons of the latter.

They played at my favorite DIY space last Saturday. Taureg jam offshoot of Mdou Moctar. They’re heavier than other acts of this ilk I’ve heard, like Bombino who unfortunately got involved with the guy from Black Keys.
