action figures and other toys

I had the wolf ship and the skull play sets. Maybe one other. Loved them then and still do. Think I might still have the skull set.

TMNT Mini/Micro Mutants is what you’re looking for. There was a line in the ‘90s that was contemporary with Mighty Max and then again more recently based on the 2012 Nickelodeon show. Mini Mutants was the 1990s line and Micro Mutants is the more recent one.

I… kinda want one of these? The Thompson specifically.

the robot modes on these guys look kinda crappy in practice, but conceptually i love them

it’d be interesting if they made kits using the same principles, but with more fantastical subjects. i guess realistic guns just don’t appeal to me though. also

Yeah I would definitely be into like, getting Gene Starwind’s caster from Outlaw Star or something along those lines

I distinctly remember Defeating Gender during the lame duck final week of 4th grade, when we were allowed to bring whatever we wanted into class to entertain ourselves as we run out the clock, and realizing along with a female friend that Polly Pocket and Mighty Max are the same toy. They should have been sold together so that Max could relax at the soda shoppe, and Poly could put an end to the machinisms of Dr. Skull Doctor.

Probably going to get one of these just for the blueprint image on the packaging.

They’re like, $94 or something, so pretty obscenely priced. Are you going to play with it?

Yeah I saw the price and then had second thoughts. I definitely have nephews who would play with it so it might find it’s way under the Christmas tree this year for someone.

The cheat code with figmas is you buy two, then sell the dupe in a year once it’s out of print to effectively make your expensive toy free.

Worked with the Spawn figure on Kickstarter last year too. I thought I was getting the three pack with the three different figures but had mistakenly ordered the three pack of just the one regular figure so I opened an eBay account and put the other two up for bid and within a week they had been snapped up and I had actually made my money back twice over.

If I could do that with every figure I bought, well, I would have a hobby that actually made money but not every figure is an overhyped Spawn figure (and also the bit of haggling I had to do over shipping prices slightly soured me on the whole enterprise as well (in addition to feeling kind of gross about being one of those toy collector types who buy up the available stock just to resell at some obscene price)).
