This is an article rather than news but hey, close enough:
The relevant part:
A) this is legit news to me, and B) I have this creeping dread that every old PC game that gave me troubles is because you were supposed to do stuff while pausing and I never figured it out. Iâve been sitting here for five minutes going âyou know, maybe Syndicate wasnât actually that absurdly difficultâ and am too scared to check.

I definitely remember pausing the Mega Drive version and playing Noel with the musical tones that the skill menu makes

i remember when i made the discovery that the number of lemmings you have in lemmings 2 carries over from stage to stage, so if you just kill off most of them early on, you have a lot less to deal with from that point
