The stick drift problems with ps5 controllers are worse than the switch and at least with the switch you’re allowed to use other controllers in the meantime. Right now the only way I can play an actual ps5 game on my two month old ps5 is to do it over remote play on the ps4 it replaced

I would not recommend buying a ps5 until the class action suit resolves and we all get our coupons for $0.50 off the purchase of a new controller

Wait, do I understand correctly that only DualSense controllers are good for PS5 games? That’s worse than any console in recent memory.

Correct. You can pair and use a ds4 to play ps4 games, menus, and media, but if you launch a ps5 game it tells you that you can only play with a dualsense and the only button that works on the ds4 is the PS button so you can quit the game

It’s obviously complete fucking horseshit because if you remote play a ps5 game on a ps4 you’re suddenly allowed to use a ds4 and of course it works fine because its the exact same button layout and all those fancy triggers are good for is giving you RSI

That’s incredible. It looks like there aren’t even licensed third party controllers from Hori or adapters from Mayflash.

Yep, it’s a fucking scam, no one should be giving sony money right now

It’s weird; I’m pretty sure the underlying joystick switches and sensors are the same model and make that’s been used for years and years. I wonder if they’ve switched components recently, or if some of the rad new haptics bump it out of place.

Yeah, the analogs are the same teal ALPS models. Haptics causing premature wear is an interesting guess, though.

I wonder what the testing cycles are like on controllers. Sony sent them out to third parties at least by fall 2019 so they existed for quite a while in near-final form.

No idea, but my dualsense is unusable after maybe 200 hours of non-cod use and I am far from the only one

Microsoft has the standard robots pressing buttons judging by this 343i video:

It’s probably a combination of factors that weren’t simulated but wear out the ring on the potentiometer regardless.

Gonna swap my right stick out for one from a dreamcast controller

I haven’t had any issues with my DualSense controller yet but it did give me an RSI from playing Control on it. I didn’t even really overdo it! PS4 controllers have given me similar issues in the past too though. Basically, any game where you have to tap the analog stick to run just shreds my tendons into pulled pork. L3 and R3 need to be deprecated YESTERDAY. Does anyone enjoy pressing an analog stick like a button? But the DualSense does seem even more hazardous than the DS4 for me because it’s chunkier so my thumb has to stretch further.
