they definitely wonât take down the validation servers for like, a decade minimum after this, they mostly want to stop hosting the content and allowing purchases because that moves up their support timeline indefinitely as long as theyâre doing that
they can also probably mothball the validation requirement with an EOL patch though their revenue numbers from the platform would have to be effectively negative before theyâd do that
For Playstation Plus Japan for about six months in 2011 you got access to 200 PS1 games it was great.
But much like the recent Japan Studios closure and that the PS2 on 4 was handled by Europe I donâf think Japan is involved at all.
There were over a thousand Japanese PS1 titles on PSN.
The real answer feels like start grabbing pirate images to play on an emulator in 5 years.
my big model ps3 makes so much noise when playing ps2 games that iâm just going to pretend it doesnât have that feature and stick to pc emulation for my ps2 needs.
which is a shame, as thereâs a lot of good stuff on psn, and having convenient access to godhand etc. would have been cool.
iâm glad my tastes mainly lying in the arcade means most of the games i want are less than a gb so i can fill my ps3 with lots of them. virtua fighter final showdown and all its costume packs are gonna eat up space though D:
Itâs an absolute pain redownloading but replacing a ps3 harddrive is one very soft screw.
and depending on your level of ambition you can open it up to clean the dust out â replace the fan â reapply thermal paste
Sony thinks old games are gross because their entire business/advertising model is disposable prestige middle brow. You must want the next Sony Game in the pipe, and that means absolutely forgetting about the last one, much less the weird shit the nerds were playing when you were in high school
yeah but shuhei yoshida actually liked games enough to hedge in public, even as he was substantially responsible for building up their current middlebrow prestige brand, he absolutely gave the impression of someone who could romanticize the PS1 on demand
Part of me wants to get a new hard drive for my PS3 so Ic an download a bunch of shit but another part of me still has Afterburner Climax installed on it after all these years
Itâs strange to see that attitude from Sony combined with something like Astroâs Playroom, the pack-in for PS5 thatâs one giant love letter (or cynical fan service) to old school Playstation properties that has the likes of the Jumping Flash rabbit jumping around in one level and the final boss being the PS1 tech demo t-rex
This certainly makes sense of the news cycle from six months ago about how theyâre 100% COPPA compliant yessir, no kids here
but syncs better next to, âSony closes Japan Studio excepting a few small teamsâ
Salesforce acquires Discord and Ringcentral and merges all chats into Glickord
A child very upset on Christmas morning that their Jabra headset isnât Discord certified. Their poor foolish parents should have bought Plantronics.
theyâre going to be bought by amazon and incorporated into twitch in some way, theyâll figure out exactly how to beam the dystopia in later
You can back up to an encrypted usb and then redownload to the new harddrive
Also reminded that when PSMobile died of all things they patched it the best they could to make your games playable.
This is great to hear and I may just have to do it
I mean to also say this will take 48 hours. But it works. I upgraded my harddrive twice.
hope whoever buys discord finally makes it so you can resize/get rid of the channel bar on the left
or makes enough of a catastrophic fuck up of the thing we can go back to irc
