Silk Hat arcade in Ikebukuro is shutting down in mid-January. It isn’t just independent arcades shutting down anymore, it’s starting to hit the big chains in prime locations.
(Matahari Group who owns Silk Hat also owns Saint-Tropez and Urban Square — basically any arcade stapled onto the side of a pachinko parlor chain)

I remember playing a janky demo build they posted somewhere a couple of years ago, didn’t realize it never came out. I saw that the town was called “Rainy Woods”, and am certain that this game will tie into Deadly Premonition in some way or another.

Yep, that prototype was ROUGH. I’m not a huge fan of the protagonist—her personality seems to basically just be “asshole”, but she felt really one-dimensional, particularly in the demo. I can count the number of games I’ve supported through crowd-funding on one hand, and they all have one thing in common: I feel really ambivalent about each game we got as a result.

kind of feel like the depiction of a New Yorker arriving in an idyllic rural town and hating it is kind of an outdated trope and should be more like she immediately thinks about moving there and starts looking at real estate but never does
