Frictional doing a bit of a post-mortem on Rebirth and SOMA. Frustrated to learn that their goals with the pregnancy themes and âmechanicsâ in Rebirth really do validate the dumb ass reactions I saw after that game came out, which were like âhow am Iâa manâsupposed to relate to this pregnant woman?â I think there were other design choices in that game with stronger influences on how players could be engaged than a fictional layer about being pregnant, like the constant talking from the player-character, extremely slow early sections, low risk gameplay sequences, and kind of cliche melodrama. But reading this, they place a lot of stock into the explanation that this game didnât hit for people because they couldnât have a relationship with the main characterâs unborn baby, which I think is just ridiculous sounding, makes Frictional seem super naiive and overconfident in the value of creating a narrative in games without strong support from their systems and mechanics. Rebirth has some really great moments, but none of them have to do with the story really.
Thatâs meant to look like Capcomâs mini arcades.
Playing megaman x with a joystick sounds like hell
I remember I tried doing that as a kid because I had the DOS version of megaman x for some reason and I only had a flight stick on my computer
platformers are better on sticks and fighters are better on pads
Mega Man Soccer and Rockman and Forte areâŚbold choicesâŚ
Canât believe this âMega Man X Street Fighterâ collection doesnât have âStreet Fighter X Mega Man.â
Harada from the Tekken team is starting a regular half-hour talk show with interview guests from the gaming and e-sports industry. The first two episodes will feature Ken Kutaragi:
These have baked-in English subs.
in case you were looking for the worst possible way to play the worst version of street fighter 2, capcom has you covered.
Sorry itâs been too long it looks nothing like a CUTE
Shout outs to that arcade in Hachioji @landroverattack RIP probably
wow, just like everyone gets all these for free, donât need a PS-Plus subscription?
I already own seven of these so that must be a good selection
By way of contrast I am of the opinion that this is so profoundly uninteresting as to be ennervating
this is how all companies should react to their consoles getting hacked
I think thatâs how it was when they did it for the Uncharted games last year, yeah
I just mean itâs interesting to see that this is the result of emphasizing different parts of what was basically always there. Feels like a continuity or something even though itâs obviously totally changed, and not for the better imo.
