10,000 Bulletins: No One Can Stop the Presses! (Part 1)

the concept was good, the execution was mid 2000s shit

yeah put me in the camp of not caring how dumb anything in FF7r was. i’d rather see where they go with it than try to cling to the memory of being 15, again (which the remake allows for, but in a way that didn’t feel cloying, to me).

i don’t like playing games on my phone, though. oh well

I’ve made it just as far in the remake story as i did in the original game, so the rest is gonna be real fun.

is it…can it be…the first real pokemon video game?

I feel like the PokƩmon Arceus game is exactly what I wanted circa 2000

Def interested

Feel like I’d be 3x more interested if it was an ARPG

They’re also remaking Diamond and Pearl

Making it completely 3d yet fervently keeping accurate to the original tileset kind of makes me question the point though? I mean, look at these cliffs

I don’t… think anyone would have minded if you just made it a diagonal line? Was honestly surprised there was even diagonal movement.

This will be the first mainline/remake of a mainline PokĆ©mon game not actually developed be developed by Game Freak themselves (they’re busy with the Arceus Legends one). Wonder if the slavish accuracy to the originals is just the new devs (ILCA, Inc who have done support work on a large number of big Japanese games have never been the main devs of any project) being afraid of fan backlash by changing too much.

I don’t think the camera position is as important to people as whether or not this adheres to post-Sun and Moon design philosophy. I don’t really pay attention to any of the fandom though so what do I know.

i expect that they won’t be able to get out of their own way and that my hype for the ~30 seconds of actual footage today will be for naught

but i definitely thought that about botw until literally the day it showed up at my home so who knows

mid 2000s cringe is having a moment right now, for better or for worse. though I doubt nomura and company were considering that

that’s the world I’d like to live in but I’m afraid it’s not true, as Sony found out in 2014. The ratio’s more like 1:200 and you’re buying b-content just like Netflix stocking its shelves

yeah it’s clear they backed down from that business model but it still seemed to seed a lot more interesting work at the time!

whither the mid-tier, etc
