10,000 Bulletins: No One Can Stop the Presses! (Part 1)

A big Synthetik update dropped. The new title screen looks GI Joe as heck, I love it

I’m about to give another run a try in co-op this evening

A bunch of merchandise was released for the 25th anniversary of Linda3 by Video Game Tokyo.

Unfortunately, it all seems to only be available via “pop-up” shops from 12/24 through 1/05.

came here to post this. the price is a bit steep to me considering how long everyone had to wait. i remember when this was on steam greenlight lmao. the fact that they released in the middle of a steam sale with no discount is also p lol. kind of torn on whether i should get it not eventually. there’s a lot of drama around the dev.

I actually posted it in part out of curiosity if there was drama or not… :eyes:

it was related to how long the game took to make and the question of whether or not the kickstarter funds were being used correctly. there were other things but i don’t remember what i read in a certain twitter thread. i still really wanna play the game despite all this i guess. i’ve been wating forever. it’s my aesthetic and seems both cute and scary. i also wanna see the girl with the nail bat and some other characters like basil who seems super sweet.

i think what people don’t realize is that the game was in developer hell for a bit and the artists were going though irl things that were depressing so they couldn’t find he energy to work on the game. as far as omocat by themselves goes i remember there being a reason not to fuck with them but specifics kinda allude me right now.

i think it had something to do with how they ran their shop.

From reading around it just seems like people being salty about the Kickstarter game not coming out on time but the artist behind the game still putting out other art in the form of merch. Which like, $200,000 is not funding a 7-person team for more than a year, and barely that; and if you’re a professional artist, your livelihood is merch/print sales. They needed to create and sell new merch to continue funding the game’s development.

I’m happy for every game I back on Kickstarter that comes out, but it seems like in general it just generates a lot of pain for everyone - developers feeling the pressure of having 10,000 investors criticizing everything they do in perpetuity that’s not getting the game released, backers … worrying about not getting the final product for a long time, if ever, I guess?

thanks for clarifying. that makes more sense. i also remember a controversy about some story omocat wrote involving shota or something. people were big mad about that.

yeah, idk about that really but it sounds like they wrote a short comic story about 2 high school boys falling in love and released some related merch with “shota” on it, not realizing the general connotation of “loli but boy”; then pulled the merch when people told them about it (by calling them a supporter of pedophilia, I guess?)

this is the comic
