Seriously I thought it was stated that there was some redtape with Ecco so it would never be released again.
I don’t know for sure, but I think Sega can’t release it without paying Ed Annunziata a bunch of money, and so in the case of those compilations they always release, they don’t have the budget to fork over the money and so just leave it out. But for the Mini I guess they had budget to get some 3rd party support, and this service probably has something similar going on.
Could also just be that Annunziata wasn’t able to get his dream Ecco MMO thing off the ground, so he’s happy to get whatever he can with it to make the legal fees worth it

works better with eg ray romano as Mario to capture the spirit of middle aged guys on 2000s television but I think the comic potential here is really unlimited. Jeff would keep saying “I’m Wario!” and cracking himself up, Larry would go around monotoning “yeah, waluigi, nice to meet you, we’re going to play tennis”
