10,000 Bulletins: No One Can Stop the Presses! (Part 1)

I don’t see what the big deal is about no co-op, I never got much use out of it

(note: he doesn’t have any friends)

I have seen concept art of Xur on a Halo ring and there are one thousand screaming spongebobs in my head

I mean I feel like we knew this already? They’ve been saying that’s what it was for a couple of years now

I’m quietly hopeful they can pull this off, we’ll see, I guess

Volition kind of goofed up with Red Faction Armageddon but then they came back with Saints Row IV and Gat out of Hell and those were pretty much universally loved so I think optimism is warranted. Saints Row is one of those series that just gets better with each one.

I assumed all the principals pretty much moved on after IV, they were clearly building on something until they weren’t

Agents of Mayhem was sort of a big blow to their reputation, and I guess it is a bit mean to call it part of Saints Row, but it technically is, and I think that’s what they need to recover from

I had completely forgotten about Agents of Mayhem! Yeah that was a flop wasn’t it. Bigger than Red Faction Armageddon. I guess it would be more prudent to take a wait-and-see attitude.

Story-wise I don’t think there was anywhere they could go after 4 and Hell.

Starting fresh is probably a good call.

A Saint’s Row where the Boss was shrunk down microscopically and swollowed by Johnny Gat as part of their plan to build an urban empire in his stomach, build up a rich bacterial culture from the ground up. You would fly and drive and fight gangs of bad bacteria around the city inside Gat’s body. I think that would be cool and zany.

One of gat out of hell’s endings was literally [very kate bush voice] making a deal with god to reboot the entire series. I have a feeling whatever they do will be canonically compatible :joy:

Some Twitter User (whose boyfriend has worked at Volition for ~10 years) was implying that “rebooting” does not refer to “franchise reboot”.

That’s what I thought I remembered. I kind of loved the map for Gat Goes to Hell, the game just felt so short. It was a bunch of really cool set pieces you charge through once.

I’d be all in for a Fantastic Journey/Innerspace approach though!!

That’s okay too, there are four endings

lmao I love that I knew exactly who you were talking about

I am sad that I never thought to save locally any of those official streams Chip did for Volition, because they went through a lot of history on stuff like Undercover, Money Shot, and the plans for a sequel to Guerilla, and why aliens showed up in Armageddon.

ahh, those were fun - did you ever play the build of Undercover they released? it’s a mess, but a pretty interesting one

EDIT: it looks like they have VODs going back many years on their Twitch, so maybe it’s all still there?

EDIT 2: here’s the Saints Row Undercover one

Oh that’s great. I can’t tell which red faction video the story comes from, but they did not have kind words to say about THQ management that they probably only shared because THQ no longer existed at the time.

The drawings on display for Return of Ark will be re-colored versions of the original sketches since the original colored drawings are missing. I presume this is why Ark has blue hair now.

Waiting for the Blue Haired Ark ROM hack of Terranigma.
