Your song of the moment (Part 2)

over time one comes to realise prefab were basically trying to take some of the goofiest noises a pop studio of the era could make and crank out poignant gems despite, and they usually won

the above has ‘reggae’ drums, corny synth brass AND a fucking Yello oh-yeah vocal flourish and is gorgeous

flex after flex

it is amazing how much sincerity and pathos paddy mcaloon can wring out of something as goofy as like “the king of rock-‘n’-roll”

i deep dove on those guys a couple years back and they might just be my favorite band now?? depending on the time of day you ask me of course

i already linked “Looking for Atlantis” itt but just assume its my song of the moment at any given moment. god i love that song

yeah I made a dumb tweet earlier about them being the worst great band and this is exactly it, like there are so many repulsive choices in every song but they add up to this super clear expression of completely idiosyncratic talent. perfect gems of bad taste

thinking about Horsin’ Around (which i guess i also linked already ITT, damn) which is a bossa nova song with a lounge jazz singer bridge and a scat breakdown and big synth horns and that name and also is the most beautiful song about infidelity ive ever heard

catchy song from this incredibly 80’s sounding Wire album

this song has become an obsession for me, and not just because of the video. does anyone know where i can find more of this crackly deranged vocal style? (think Rykard from Elden Ring)
