The only definitive upgrade I never got was upgrading my Titanic Leggings to the pants off of Heigan. Everything else was BiS!
Although this lady is only level 54 and almost looks cooler already

99% of Destiny fashion posts are now “I made X character” and I haaaaate it
I’m guessing you are aware at the furor over D2’s new system with a seasonal cap and grind?
100% more interesting to play a specific activity for armor but min-maxing obsessive-compulsive loops frustrate when the armor you like is not statistically the best.
They gave everyone 12 “free” items too, but it’s never enough to calm gamers down.
my sympathies
I would not want to be responsible for trying to entertain people for hours a day for months when it’s only humanly possible to ship a couple hours of full-fidelity work every ninety days.
I think all long-term-engagement plans are just a matter of spinning plates, trying to find just the right presentation of repetitive goals that is least psychologically bare
“What is a game? A miserable pile of” etc., but some forms are barer than others
In terms of just… project management, this season is incredible. There’s a whole new (forgive me) asset “tile set” for the Vex data realm, a new repurposed non-combat zone for the Fallen settlement in the city, a half dozen fully voiced characters, a matchmade arena activity, and a new weekly iterative story mission. Plus Vault of Glass* for free-to-play.
Incredible value for ~$5/mo. if it’s what you want.
* which, oddly, feels underdeveloped next to the other three raids in the game, especially Garden of Salvation which was itself a Vault of Glass sequel/redux and gorgeous. It’s been well received but I can’t help but think it’d be underwhelming but for the X factor.
I thought the Black Garden was one of their best art concepts, cool to see them dig it up again
Did ya’ll really come here to badmouth transmog, in my thread, about clothing choices?
ahahaha
Well, I certainly think transmogrification is an unfortunate concept to begin solidifying into a player demand and expectation…
Very few people actually play as their pop-culture glamours. They make a post to get some upvotes on reddit, and then they go back to their normal costume, which is either a bikini, or dark souls knight, or some SonyStyle cool loungewear because that’s who their avatar is to them.
I approach it from the perspective of the loot & desire cycles that fuel long-term engagement, and the damage it does by short-circuiting them. Suddenly a huge element of the compulsion loop is removed or shunted into a more abstracted, currency-based system. Once a game opens that up, trying to entice more play by visual appeal becomes much less effective.
Of course, this all follows from the curse of trying to make a drip of content exciting for months and years in the first place!
Only thing I never got was Anub bracers… and trinkets. Still running HoJ + BB lol
EDIT: Oh and the Loatheb ring. Bleh
The 50’s gear has always looked better than the absurd raid crap
