Dreamfall Chapters is a incredibly flawed game, with a very flawed story, but an impeccable sense of setting–or maybe its multiple political campaigns just hit my sweet spots. In any case, I think about this particular piece of vandalism a lot, because it feels both so unlikely (I can’t imagine fascists misogynistic enough to go this particular route also having the knowledge or the patience to draw something as detailed as this is) and yet also feels astoundingly true to life. And maybe this speaks to my lack of familiarity with modern vidcons, but it is also the sort of imagery I’ve never seen before in games, which helps it stick.

I think about how the album version of Silent Hill’s theme includes this small sound of someone sobbing, around the 2:22 minute mark, that isn’t in the game’s opening cutscene and I appreciate how that sob wandering into the mix makes the whole song for me. And unless you were a nerd who listens to video game OSTs, you would never know :^)
