videogame things you think about a lot lot lot lot

I was shouting Boo-ono Trigger.

Honestly a port would be enough for me. A remake would probably be HD-2D which I can’t get past

The live-a-live remake was good, I liked how much they upped the theatrics of the wrestling chapter and the near future chapter was immensely improved by the anime theme song being sung instead of being presented as lyrics flashing by while the melody dooted out on a snes soundchip

Live a live is a perfect example of remaking games that aren’t so good that the idea of a remake is offensive

What if instead of remaking a game they made a NEW IP we can all hate?

it’s by far the best of the HD 2D games

it seems like the best case of the ‘hd-2d’ art style actually succeeding, live a live remake looked like a world of cute dioramas

I am convinced: they should definitely remake Chrono Trigger, and they should put Bloober Team in charge of it.

Chrono Trigger is great. There’s nothing about it that’s bad enough to require a remake.

This is really it. I played it for the first time like 5 years ago having nothing in it spoiled for me or knowing anything at all about it besides “people like it a lot” and it was perfect. no problem with the encounter rate, didnt even have to grind. all the “side quests” near the final lavos fight felt like important steps to preparing for battle. i was invested in the story so quickly and i did honestly have no complaints at all by the end of it. the ds version which they already ported to computer already has a new dungeon, fmvs and retroactive emphasis on connections to chrono cross which are the things you’d conceivably add to a chrono trigger remaster/remake anyway

i dunno if i’ll ever play the ds version though cuz i really don’t think chrono trigger needed another dungeon i did everything in the game and thought it was perfectly paced

I’ve tried to play it like five times but always get bored and quit not long after escaping prison

learning about the first televised Game Awards:

(yes geoff keighley was involved in this at the tender age of 16)

baffling choices everywhere, but i want to highlight this specifically:

watching a recording of it, they apparently used footage of the SNES version of Aladdin instead of the GG version (was that a genuine mixup, or just more convenient to record??): https://youtu.be/Af9M8llS9JA&t=2136

cybermania 94 is amazing, geoff wishes the game awards could be this good

TGA should bring back the Special Achievement in Education award and give it to GeoGuessr

Not that I would actually watch something like Game Makers Toolkit or similar things about “Good Game Design” but if your early stages of the game are 15-20 and the later stages are 90 minutes the game has “betrayed my trust”. I should be given an expectation, as an adult, and established in a pattern how long a stage is.

Yes I am talking about Slave Zero which is a late 90s PC game so what the fuck did I expect.

Personally I really like my expectations being shattered, so I’m a big fan of the “final stage is as long as everything else combined” metal slug 3 approach, for example.

no wonder that videogame players now are all all following the hype ,and basically each player’s experience is different. If you’re a step behind, you’ll lose the connection in the gaming community which almost one of the important thing in videogaming.

A: this game is tough (1.0.1012)
B: really? I think it’s fine (1.0.28470)
C: you guys even got this achievement? Crazy master skills :100: (1.0.00012)

they are afraid of negative reviews.

The trailer for Snowball’s “Combat Mission: Afghanistan” is my favorite videogame trailer of all time for reasons i cannot articulate and that probably don’t make sense to anyone else.

Also Snowball is the cutest game developer name. RIP buddies, you guys got sucked into the 1C-SoftClub monolith and ceased to exist. At least the successor studio Snowbird (not quite as cute a name unfortunately) went on to make the Eador games which are extremely important and good.
