oh that’s about to come out huh. maybe that’s why i’m in a mood
I just… it’s useless to complain as this happens over and over again. But, is this really just being remade to have shinier graphics?? Like, they just put out that collection so recently too!
thinking about the weird also-ran Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater-alikes. ive never touched most of them even though the BMX was apparently popular enough to get a sequel. it looks kinda fun but also literally like THPS on a bike
this one always seemed like the weirdest putt, like surfing is undeniably cool but how do you even translate that to the THPS model. nice PS2 water effects though
this is the only one i owned & have familiarity with. the linear courses are kind of an odd fit (remember the weird downhill jam levels from THPS1? it’s like a whole game of those) but it’s decently fun, great if you’re a grind/manual fiend like me (“boardsliding” is i guess what it’s called instead). also it has probably the most dogshit soundtrack of them all lol it’s universally terrible nu-metal. Doesn’t stop the fucking Alien Ant Farm song or I HAAAATE THIIIIIIS from getting stuck in my head constantly to this day!!
bonus: the GBC port of the first game my little brother had that’s just a Skate or Die clone
the mat hoffman games were so identical to tony hawk that the chicago level in thps4 is literally from mat hoffman’s bmx 2 (which people would have liked more if it was based on tony hawk 3’s engine and not some weird in between mix of 1 and 2)
“MAKE IT SO THAT EACH PLAYER BUMPS INTO EACH OTHER THUS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO MOVE ANYWHERE WITHOUT KNOCKING THE OTHER PLAYERS OFF THE PLATFORM AND DYING, ALSO MAKE IT SO THAT WHEN YOU HIT ‘A’ YOU TURN INTO A BUBBLE FORM THAT ENDS THE LEVEL THUS MAKING IT A SUICIDE BUTTON. GO AHEAD AND DO THAT.”
new super mario bros wii?
Someone on the serebii forums who said the greatest innovation Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire made to the franchise was letting you switch L to work like the A button so they could play four copies of the game at the same time for each hand and foot.
god and i thought i was a Pokémon pervert
The P/ECE, a handheld released in 2001 by Aquaplus (better known as a visual novel publisher):
You could plug it into a Windows PC and download games into it, so it had a vibrant homebrew scene in Japan running into the 100s of games, including several by Kenta Cho:

The first-party launch title was Odekake Multi, a puzzle-battle RPG starring the fan-favorite android maid from To Heart. The official website (which is still up) says you can play it against friends (via some kind of link cable I think?):

Odekake Multi also came with full-color Windows software featuring Multi back home at the corporate lab. I gather you could sync your progress with your PC using a USB cable, and view your various rewards from expeditions.

I love that you can tell they’re kenta cho games from the gifs alone
I love this??? It really expands on the dream the VMU established. The Multi raising game really feels like Chao evolved
popped in mgs1 after setting up the ps2 to see how it worked with disc drive settings and noticed for the first time ever that guards at the urinal in the b1 nuclear storage room bathroom have a dick shake animation…the game that keeps giving after 27 years
This just reminded me of the first time we got to Robotnick in sonic 1 and didn’t know what to do. We tried hitting him several times and he didnt die so we just hid in the corner until time ran out. I think my dad called the sega equivalent help line and we learned what bosses were.
my partner has a story about her and her siblings and her mom getting stuck in king’s quest v and her mom called some kind of tip hotline, audibly groaned when she heard the answer to whatever problem they were having, then told the kids to make sure the phone bill got to her first when it showed up because their father could never know about this
See, only the queen (Roberta Williams) could design a game that would inspire a story that fine
I didn’t think about this before but now I sure will
