Do you think the sniper bullet camera in MDK was inspired by the bullet cam in ringo lam’s full contact

Haha maybe I always felt like that game was sam raimi coded somehow so he might be an intermediary source

1963

  • New Jersey gamers propose ā€œinfectious morale,ā€ troops being passed by units falling back must check their own morale

think about a lot lot lot one, wish a game has this feature.

1964

  • Graham Biddle suggests use of points for picking armies which are then unbalanced in numbers but balanced in points.
  • Fred Vietmeyer introduces the concept of unbalanced equality for Napoleonics. Each nationality has some positive aspects and some negative ones.

Now we have some basic features of later RTS games.

The Total War games all do this, many tactics involve triggering cascading mass routs

has anyone been feeling kind of like increasingly priced out of contemporary gaming broadly speaking lol

I am like ā€œwhats the point?ā€ Death Stranding 2 has been the only reason I’ve seriously thought about a PS5. I can’t be arsed to get a Switch 2 when a Switch 1 will play most of what I want. Forget getting an Xbox. Everything else is older PC titles or Roms or the once in a while indie game. Last new game I was excited about was Skin Deep.

yeah even with my fairly well compensated computer job the increasing cost of necessities makes console gaming hard to justify as the job market is shit and i would prefer not to have to immediately shed most of my possessions and move in with relatives a few states away if my job were to disappear

i want to play duskbloods but i’m definitely leaning against spending nearly $1000 for it and nothing else on the switch 2 has caught my interest

i did buy a gaming pc back during the pandemic though and it has yet to have trouble with anything i’ve run on it

ok first off i dont know why the fuck i havent watched streets of fire yet even though it seems like the most bitchin movie ever, but also i somehow didnt imagine that a movie with that awesome title would actually feature streets being fucking on fire

it happened to me when seventh gen consoles launched and there was just nothing being released for them that made me feel like i could justify the buy-in, so i ended up walking away from games for a dozen years. i didn’t have much fear of missing out during that time or yearning to be part of ā€œthe discourseā€ or w/e, and it’s actually been fun to get caught up in a more curatorial way where i can talk to people who know these games well

reading that he literally based it on ā€œwhat I would have thought was the fucking coolest movie ever as a teenagerā€ is making me so happy, im definitely gonna watch this on the 4th in lieu of celebration

the ps5 is supposedly in the second half of its lifespan, and i’m sure there aren’t many people who can name more than like 3 exclusives they want to play on it. they should have just stuck with the ps4 for another ten years. maybe eventually release an official handheld or switch-style hybrid ps4 when that becomes feasible.

make it a real long term videogame standard that ends up under every tv in every house.

Not really. (My most contemporary console is a PS3, which is the only game console I ever got new, as a birthday present in late 2010.)

Japanese third party devs essentially have. Almost every big Japanese title is a PS4/PS5 cross-release, even now.

Does an SSD make the PS4 tolerable?

I’m still using mine with one!

If you have a vanilla non-pro PS4 an SSD will make a negligible difference in speed because internally the hard drive is connected via USB to the motherboard.

A PS4 Pro can see a significant performance boost from an SSD.
