I don’t think Chrono Trigger ever explicitly says it, but Chrono Cross does explicitly say that the protagonists of CT choose to involve themselves in saving the world despite it not being a pressing threat in their lifetimes. They could have chosen to live out their lives peacefully.

the mega drive could probably host a fully functional port of dungeon encounters.

i’d like to think one of the 90s handhelds could manage it, but the size of the numbers involved as the game gets going might be an issue?

Those two posts in a row made me think ā€œa fully functional mega drive port of Chrono Triggerā€ which, despite me being a SNES guy and CT being the 2nd most SNES game ever (behind Super Metroid), yes, let’s do that

honestly that’s just phantasy star iv

chrono trigger’s secret sauce was arguably moving as far in that direction as it could with the talent it had

If you had the chance to play

Skyward Sword HD
Link’s Awakening
Wind Waker
Oracle of Seasons
Ocarina of Time

In 2025 for the first time, which would you play first?

I think you can’t go wrong with Link’s Awakening or Ocarina of Time. Seasons and Windwaker might be more interesting after you play the former two imho.

Link’s Awakening is the only one of those games I’d consider worthwhile, though I haven’t played that Oracle one

Speaking of Chrono Trigger we are now like half way through the 30th anniversary year with still no real info about the ā€œvariety of eventsā€ square enix announced in March. We are suffering out here in video game land

I’m leaning towards Link’s Awakening too.

Once again just imho but I don’t think you need to bother with Link’s Awakening DX the extra shit isn’t that interesting and perhaps even slightly detracts from the vibe of the original

Yes Awakening is the one but

I actually think wind waker would be a lot better without having played other post ocarina Zelda’s. It’s the coolest looking one of all of them and the worst thing about it is it doesn’t do much that oot/mm didn’t already do

link’s awakening is the only real option

ocarina is good but needs context, link’s awakening is just plain simple and good

probably don’t bother with the others lol…

Go with Awakening its the shortest.

Don’t play Skyward Sword. You only play Seasons if you really want more Awakening.

I still think Ocarina is fantastic but results really vary on that one.

Wind Waker is 1/3rd a really good game.

I started with Link’s Awakening. I picked up the first instrument, here we go.

I’ve started and stopped each of these games over the years so hopefully this run hooks me and I can start from here. The idea is to play them all.

the gall of this guy with an ā€˜Order of the British Empire’ title who can’t even be bothered to name which language he appropriated his company name from

as a fan of classic codemasters stuff like Micro Machines I honestly don’t think they should even be able to dine out on that anymore. like, having shipped a good genesis game in 1994 gives you literally no transferable expertise 30 years later

I dunno, the DX-exclusive cameraman’s photos (for the Game Boy Printer) are kind of charming in an Earthbound sorta way. About half of them involve something mildly goofy or awkward happening.

Is FF6’s new 3D opera scene as horrible as I imagine it?
