Thought 1: Well, that’s a crappy chessmaster, if it takes that long per play.
Thought 2: This sounds like a lost Secret of Mana tune.
jesus this is the best part. the game just like loses track of what the fuck it should be doing and then seems to say “oh shit, play music again” and it is great. it’s like there is supposed to be a drum fill, but no one knew how to make one so it just sputters and then loops.
I purchased the official Death Crimson remaster album a while back; featuring 2018 takes on all the tracks present in the original Saturn game, as re-arranged by the man himself Kunitaka Watanabe. I bought it off the strength of his enthusiasm as demonstrated on his YouTube channel (among another reason), and I can confirm that the tracks do indeed slap even divorced of their original kusogē context.
Can’t get enough of this battle theme. Unsettling electro swing. The breakdown that comes in at 1:25 followed by the marching ratatat of the percussion really slides me into home base.
i’m always posting about kota hoshino/frequency/n.o.y.b. ITT but the ost for fromsoft’s licensed 1999 psx hack & slash spriggan: lunar verse is fucking insane
a choir of assholes
people bitching about the arpeggios and stuff in the Lego NES promo video, but the NES could totally do that euro game sound.
When I first heard this in the meat locker it was making me think this was ice level music for a platformer and that each investigation would have its own elemental theme. Really sad that wasn’t the case.
For a second upon first hearing it I wondered if it was from the first game. It has a really timeless ‘videogame music’ quality to it. Like it could be in a JRPG cave, an underwater level in a platformer, or a Tetris Effect level. Crystal vibes with a driving rhythm, and then the guitar!
this ost is such a treasure i love it
