alright i fuckin lol’d that it was literally a conspiracy of spiders
another reason these dorks should actually play dnd once, they could’ve talked about lolth and driders and the aranea or whatever instead of picking vecna seemingly for no reason
The somewhat central to the plot usage of Kate Bush struck me as something very much designed to make certain people angry and so I giggled.
I remain just fine on this series. Like I don’t think it’s awful, or particular great, but it is just fine. I watch each season once and I am good never doing it again. It’s fine.
peak of it for me was this scene
they really seemed to build up a certain distinctive look (vibrant and rigid) to the whole show, so it’s weird to see that suddenly dissipate
I don’t think this is as bad as season 2 so far, but its def a step down from season 3, much more interested in spinning its wheels
Yeah, for all my bellyachin’ I think it’s mostly fine. I guess I just expected it to be better? Given the time and cost?
I’m also grousin’ over the whole “Netflix touts from their gutted editorial account about how expensive every episode was, as a bunch of artists I follow on Twitter talk about getting laid off from Netflix with their projects canceled.” Not like there’s a dial that says “Stranger Things” that they crank up and “animation” and “smaller shows” goes down, but.
I dunno. They’ve got like, what, four hours with these last two episodes? Maybe they’ll wrap this bit up well enough.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, watching this is about 50% vocally complaining, but I’m enjoying the experience of complaining
yeah, this got decent enough again in terms of the ensemble plotting by the end of the second episode to put it above S2, I think the first episode and a half of like, fake-teen-movie set dressing were just more cloying than usual
the Kate Bush scene was actually VERY good kitsch imo as someone who always wishes emotional climaxes would take more cues from Macross
the russian prison subplot is a big ol’ trash heap though, with the exception of whatever brett gelman does in any given episode.
It’s not as bad as the chicago xmen from season 2 but its completely unengaging.
You know something is in russia if it has a blue tint and fake snow.
They should’ve paid the ransom with 40k dollars worth of blue jeans, not a bag of 40k dollars
this is one of the best local businesses in all of canada
yeah this will be fun
whoa i had no idea about this
My discord pfp is a still from Les Vampires and I loved the Assayas film so this is made for me
He’s writing and directing this one too.
Stranger 3 was abysmal and embarrassing, so I was pleasantly surprised they went with Not That for the 4th. Hopper subplot was dumb and the stuff with El in the lab was the epitome of mushy tell don’t show storytelling but the main plot with the kids in Hawkins was solid enough. Kids fighting demons is what I am here for
1 > 4 > 2 > 3
just started watching Money Heist. Surprised this didn’t become a big thing over here but not so much because the english dub is not the best. Still, it’s pretty stylish so far and it promises a lot. and unlike most shows that ended on netflix it looks like this onne actually got completed
i actively try to cultivate an openmindedness in the kinds of shows i watch, in the sense that i see people get stuck in the weird overthinking trap of “the people who would like this kind of thing are obnoxious”. i have no problem just not liking an actor or director or something and throwing a whole thing in the trash, pettiness is freedom and any excuse not to watch things is fine, but i’m just saying generally i try to take things on their own terms. anyway somebody tried to get me to watch the apple tv show schmigadoon and i can’t enjoy it because the kind of people who would be into it are obnoxious
