From 3.68 you can use h-encore to downgrade your firmware and run whatever homebrew you’d like. The guide here will walk you through the whole process: https://vita.hacks.guide/installing-h-encore
Since the vita supports native psp emulation, and the psp supports native psx emulation, you can actually modify your vita’s psp emulator to run custom firmware and play any psx game through it as if it were supported officially. The guide to doing that is here: https://vita.hacks.guide/adrenaline.html
Kind of a lengthy process but I didn’t run into any issues with it myself and the results are quite nice. I played through SOTN using adrenaline and it ran flawlessly.
recompiling an old psx iso patch command line tool for os x 10.7+ so i can play a “psp content in the original translation” fft hack (that also replaces luso with ashley riot???) is definitely the most i’ve worked to play a video game in a long time
I love love love this game but have very little desire to replay it. It came into my hands at the end of high school and I’m not sure I have the tolerance to reset 30mins into a random encounter again. That said a friend of mine hasn’t played any Matsuno games and I’ve been watching/coaching him through Vagrant Story, so I get to reappreciate it. We’ll get to Tactics next.
dang I’ve been putting off playing this because I didn’t have the energy/attention span to get an iso and a patch and put them together and fuck with cores but gosh-- I could just stick a mobile port on my phone and easily take screenshots of what I am sure is somehow a deeply offensive variation to post @Felix over and over until I get bored?
I don’t like WotLs cg cutscenes either, the originals get the job done so well and I don’t think the art direction translates well to 3D, or to voice acting.
The KoF94 ReBout-style redrawn sprites for the mobile version is probably the least offensive makeowner I’ve seen yet for a Squeenix classic mobile port
