The threeds is 10 years old.

how the heck did I miss that imageepoch made a version (remake? port of remake?) of Toushin Toshi (II) for this upstanding respectable handheld. Even though they made Criminal Girls and there have been de-porned console ports of eroge for decades, it is blazing my mind that a dang Alicesoft game ended up on a Nintendo system.

how the hell were they making decisions at that company (besides badly)

oof, kokuga haters!

anyway 3ds is where monster hunters come out nowadays so it is the #1 console until that changes

so all 3ds owning people bought this right?!?

http://www.ancient.co.jp/~game/gotta_protectors/

Quoted from neogaf:
It's a massively-expanded sequel to the XBLIG Gauntlet-esque brawler/tower defense game Protect Me Knight that adds new playable classes, lots of customisation systems and RPG elements, 100 or so levels with various difficulty settings and a level editor with QR code sharing. It also retains local multiplayer with Download Play, so 4 people can play with only one copy of the game.

The game is by Ancient, the studio owned and run by famous composer Yuzo Koshiro (Streets of Rage series, Etrian Odyssey series, Kid Icarus Uprising, Revenge of Shinobi, Shenmue), and he assembled several other high-profile classic composers to work with him on the soundtrack:

-Hiroshi Kawaguchi a.k.a. Hiro. (Outrun, Space Harrier, Fantasy Zone, After Burner, Shenmue) -Shinji Hosoe (Dragon Spirit, Ridge Racer, Tekken) -Hisayoshi Ogura a.k.a. OGR (Darius series, Ninja Warriors, Legend of Kage) -Motoaki Furukawa (Gradius series, Castlevania; Rondo of Blood, Policenauts)

The music is NES-style chiptunes, but there's a paid DLC module that adds FM versions of all the music.

fucking hell

no style savvy on that wiki?! for shame. looking forward to the next iteration, myself.

I’ve put off buying a 3DS for ages now and as a result my backlog of DS and GBA games is shrunk down to next to nothing (that I’d like to actually play), which means I really would benefit from a new handheld to play things on… but I’ve just never found the games that’d make me want to buy the thing. This thread kinda reinforces that, mainly due to the fact that I could possibly go the rest of my life without playing another non-action RPG.

That leaves me with Mario 3d Land and that Zelda game, the Layton game, maybe the 999 sequels if the second doesn’t come to PC as well. Oh, gotta try Pushmo and Crashmo. That’s rather grim for five years. I think on the GBA I imported twice as many games as that.

Also would want a non-XL sized one which seems to be next to impossible at this point.

Doesn’t look like this is available yet? Not in Australia anyway

I like my 3DS but rudie begins echoing beginning of thread.

I will admit to having a bit of a blindspot when it comes to 3DS eshop games as aside from Pushmo and Crashmo I can name very few (I think there were people talking up boxboy at some point?) so perhaps there would be a few there.

I hadn’t heard of Gotta Protectors before and looked it up… and it is a tower defense game. Maybe it isn’t that the 3DS lacks games, it just has them in all the genres I’d never want to play.

In better news the entire 999 trilogy is heading to PC so one less 3DS “must have” to worry about. I wasn’t even in love with 999 but I kinda wanted to give another one of these a shot.

no word on this launching in pal regions besides a “we’ll try” tweet

Thank you based Nintendo.

I just bought the Sega Master System theme and now I have Alex Kidd chomping away at a hamburger in the background while tunes from Miracle World, Secret Commando and Phantasy Star play. Best $2.35 I ever spent

https://3ds.guide/ anyone fuck with this yet?

reading up on this, apparently there’s a homebrew app that lets you pirate games from the eshop
by downloading them directly from the eshop, lol

i’m interested in this

Oof, i’d like to be able to emu stuff that can’t be bought on VC but the thought of my new New 3DS bricking does not appeal.

looks like when you get homebrew running, there’s a ‘freeshop’ app you can install that’ll do the rest
not sure i’d touch it without a vpn or something though

got this done
it’s a very, very long process of copying things back and forth from an sd card and staring at progress bars
