The Queerness of Samus Aran

yeah there’s no way they could’ve talked me into playing as a woman without shoulderpads, it was a good bait and switch

I think my contributions to this thread are even worse than the main trans thread

I seem to have blocked all memory of boss fights. All I remember is scanning creatures and features, and thinking, “HM! INTERESTING!”

metroid prime should’ve been a trans dating sim where you go on long strolls across phendrana drifts and try to get dark samus to like you

How many trans dating sims are really about the duality of self?

can a player lead a double life (before she shank me with that butter knife)

is the American release of Prime any better as far as lore and flavour text goes? i don’t remember really experiencing the “piecing together a civilisation” part when i played; all the infodumps felt extremely dry and techno-babbly. heard something about there being different versions though

you’re AU right? i definitely remember like, a bunch of writings by chozo and space pirates. one memorable one describing the space pirates’ attempts to emulate Samus’ morph ball

oh yeah that one made me crack up. but no i’m thinking of more concrete backstory stuff, like how there are meant to be elements that hint at Samus’s being raised by the Chozo. i didn’t encounter that point until zero mission, and for the most part i’d rather forget that game

oh yeah right! well i just looked up a wiki and you’re right, there’s definitely actual talk about Samus’ early life in the US version and her relationship with the Chozo. i guess in the PAL revision all the writing was from before her time, maybe?

possible! considering they also patched a lot of speedrun-applicable exploits it seems like first edition is usually the way to go with metroid games

That’s a pretty weird change to make.

i like how samus’s isolation translates super well to her hanging out in bars

maybe not always super well though

Ive always kinda liked that Samus/Lara Croft comic even though it offends my comic sensibilities by having giant walls of text. Exhausted baggy-eyed Samus is canon imo

“So what’s that symbol on the back of your hand?”

“No.”

Canon Samus:

Harried, sweaty, pensive, strong.
