it was kinda stupid of me cause i never learned japanese

I really loved my DS. I got the original silver one at launch, and played it into the ground. I was weirdly into Yoshi Touch and Go for a while. I wonder whether that game holds up. Nintendo was making some very solid low-key arcade games in the mid-2000’s, like that one and the Pyoro minigames in WarioWare. Nobody is talking about this!!

I ended up getting a flash cart and just going totally wild with it. It was the first console I’d ever pirated games on. It was magical to be able to throw whatever game I wanted on there with minimal effort – even imports! It was the perfect console for it too, with all its weird little experimental games you’d never want to pay full price for. I have fond memories of traveling for a work conference in like 2016 and playing Chibi Robo: Park Patrol in my early morning hotel room to relax before a nervous day presenting a poster.

I used the built in alarm clock function on that DS from 2005 to… maybe 2018? Eventually, the internal speaker wiring got partially disconnected, and I had to keep opening and closing the clamshell while the speakers crackled, until I could work it back into a position that would output sound. It became a real liability to rely on the alarm clock at that point, and I was late for work a few times due to poor DS speaker wiring before I finally gave up and switched to using my phone’s alarm clock. It’s just not the same though! There’s nothing like the DS’s rapid-fire “you’re about to die of radiation exposure” klaxon steadily increasing in volume… I woke in terror every morning.

Lol unless the Alarmo can produce a sound like Smurf Village’s air raid siren, I’m not interested.

I started playing Flower, Sun, and Rain. Impressions forthcoming, but I came to say I love the Dual Screen.

That was the first time I actually owned Super Mario 64 and it was futuristic AF playing that on a handheld.

That’s the other meaning of DS

Does he say PS on the PS2 version?

Playing Flower, Sun and Rain with the guidebook instead of the truncated DS handbook is so good.

I bought a refurbished 2DS during COVID for $40 from nintendo’s website and softmodding that made that one of the best deal’s I’ve ever had in my life.

Space Invaders Extreme 2 is the peak of the medium.

i find this impossible to believe given how difficult SIE1 is to handle on a full-sized TV with a proper controller and also given that they said the same thing about Bangai-O Spirits

Extreme 2 is not the same game as Extreme 1.
