here is another one not linked in that forum: Glowing Bodies
it’s not a walking sim (it’s a character creator) but it’s worth looking at if you decide you like Strangethink’s work. you can use it to make cool stuff like this:
Sludge Life is a fun free game on the Epic store that I thought was going to be a tagging simulator, but it’s really a nicely done walking simulator all about exploring a fun setting packed with small scenes and secrets. There’s some non-walking gameplay in a “jump around and reach the most out of the way spots in this virtual jungle gym” way, but it’s gentle with very sticky ledge grabbing. The real meat of the game is just discovering the different gags and weird structures.
It’s a game about tagging and naturally somewhat aesthetically influenced by Jet Set Radio. However, I was most reminded of another walking simulator from long ago…
TodayI played Paratopic, but I really don’t get it. I did not enjoy it either, it’s quite slow and what happens does not make much sense to me. Would anybody who appreciated the game, care to tell me their interpretation?
i can’t offer an insightful interpretation, but i can offer solidarity in your experience. i was intrigued throughout and having a pretty good time, but found its conclusion sudden and neither fulfilling nor compelling.
So, I have played P.T. on my hacked PS4 and it’s the nicest walking simulator I have played until now. The last puzzle though, would be really impossible to solve without an internet guide. There are no clues to help solve it in the game. This takes something away from the Demo if we were to consider it a stand alone game.
Also, in in a twisted way, it suggests that a possible light to see walking simulators is… they are all demos.
Yesterday night I played Gone Home and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t know anything beforehand and I really appreciated the story, the atmosphere, the intuitive progression and the fact that it lasts 2-3 hours. It felt like an interactive movie.
35mm - Has anybody played this?
It has also come out for the Switch now.
Yeah
Much more amateurish than I expected, not very capable of taking advantage of the moderately effective compositions it sometimes created. Doesn’t go very far beyond a Bethesda Fallout wilderness tableau.
Thanks! You saved me a few hours and a disappointment
