realised i didnā€™t put any kind of currency in the sonic game so far

then realised that the part i hate most about call of cthulhu and vampire is when other players start trying to figure out the exact costs of things and how much money their characters have and holy shit who cares

Everything is a barter system for chili dogs. Once an item is ā€œsoldā€ aka put into a chili or a dog it alters the chili dog completely and irreversibly. The only known quantity is that it is now a chili dog and can be used for barter or sustenance

Did you just find some beans and tomatoes? Basic dog. How about cumber and seaweed? Sushi dog.

Maybe the currency system from Reign? You have a wealth stat that you roll when you buy something that has a cost equal or higher than your wealth stat. If you succeed, no change, if you fail, your wealth stat drops by some number. If an item costs less than your wealth stat and isnā€™t rare or unusual, congrats you can buy it without a roll, no change to wealth.

if i make another game (and i have already been thinking about that), iā€™ll probably go with something like that, i like it. but i am comfortable not having money in this one at all.

alt answer your currency is your hitpoints: rings

in combat when you get hit you roll to see how many rings you keep not how many you lose

One of the best parts of Call of Cthulhu was the credit score skill just throwing out the whole currency tracking entirely. Not having money at all sounds ideal for Sonic tho

Making an 8 fold zine of Moonveil for Milwaukee Zinefest.

Had to break it down into its really core core parts. Itā€™s sorta feeling like World of Dungeons? Fantasy heartbreaker with a new resolution system.

Anyways, I have two options for an aesthetic. I think the final aesthetic is somewhere inbetween, but i canā€™t really identify the best elements of each.

Attached some PDFs.

I think the two graphics add a lot. Messy is the way to go

Agreed, Messy feels much nicer to look at

I know Iā€™m generally the unsophisticated taste in tt (and everything else) guy so I hope that doesnā€™t poison this sentiment but after going through that recent itch charity bundle it had me thinking that youā€™ve got one of the most inviting pamphlet format systems Iā€™ve ever seen here.

Ran two games this weekend. I was the guide for one and my partner (first time ever) ran the other.

One game was the best game I ever was in. The other was likeā€¦ really tough.

I donā€™t think the current situation is very friendly to new GMs.

The overwhelming response from playing is that the clean aesthetic is easier to play with but the other one is just much more fun, so weā€¦ are going to need to figure out how to make it work together.

Iā€™m posting a newer layout that is mostly all clean, but has a less ā€œArt Museum pamphletā€ font and areas cut out for illustration. Feedback on the rules would be appreciated.

edit: all filled up!

First 8 fold dungeon done. Pretty stoked.
