Switch!

I think it structurally doesn’t make very much sense, but it’s still got that great core. Looking at what happens when you die, you: lose consumables (some, but not others – very poorly messaged), choose a spawn point, probably near where you finished, because you were intending to do something, right? And then go back to the room. If you were outclassed in that room (very possible to stumble into over-leveled zones near the beginning), there’s no real system to suggest you do something else; you can just throw yourself at it again and again.

I bought it mostly because they deserve a second round and the art and music are far better than I expected (I thought Zelda remixes would be a point against it but they’ve surprised me!).

hey I didn’t know you get a bunch of nes roms with the switch online thing, that’s kinda neat

and tetris 99, which I did know about. who wouldn’t want to play some tetris 99

i really like Mario Tennis Aces. I heard some negative stuff about it from people who probably just want a tennis sim. but this is really really fun. the adventure mode is cute and challenging. the trick shot/special shot/zone shot mechanics are solid - betting this will get intense at higher levels.

monday: I hate having to buy nintendo parts

wednesday: I need this limited edition hanshin tigers gamecube controller

Huh. That definitely was only sold with the Hanshin Tigers Gamecube.

I would pay $100 for it only if it came caked in chicken grease and river slime

I told my nintendo dork friends that I bought a switch and two of them were so excited about this turn of events that they went out, bought a fuckin pro controller for me, and left it at my door step. pretty wild.

i have a switch too but im waiting for my neighbor to be done borrowing my joycons (her analog stick is all fucked up like half of yours) then ill post my code

shes playing some game called HOB which looks like an adventure game with zelda shit and she loves it so much and wants me to play

but im a snob! it looks generic! shes buying me a copy anyway, and i have to play it to talk with her about it

Hob did nothing for me, it’s definitely made of over-used parts and supposedly comes together in the whole

It’s the game that killed that Torchlight studio, located in ye old Seattle

yeah she got it because she really liked torchlight

I played through Hob recently. I liked it a lot, but the first few hours are dull. It really comes together when the scope and commitment to its rearranging, interlocking world sets in. My favourite things about it where that

  • any required backtracking doesn’t feel like backtracking because the level layouts are usually unrecognizable when you return.
  • there are no bosses except for one optional final boss, just enemy encounters of varied difficulty.

The Switch port is super janky, and it looks like a DS game in handheld mode. I noticed some updates being pushed to my Switch, but I haven’t played it since those happened.

this does work, for anyone else who might be interested. I’ll keep it around just for that. also should make the switch pro controller/DS4 work wirelessly on PC, which is nice. gonna try a ps4 arcade stick later tonight.

Tetris 99 is my life now.

It’s like the only multiplayer game I play. The lack of any ability to communicate whatsoever is (sadly) an amazing feature
