I have no idea how Arms showed up other than I was staring at it running on my Switch and Yuzu at the same time and going “wow, technology sure is neat”
Groove Coaster 100% checks out tho

One of the questions on Nintendo’s official surveys for games you’ve played is whether that game is for a “casual” audience or a “core” audience, so I suspect when they label you as such it’s leveraging that data rather than how much time you’ve spent.
So your assignment is more of a reflection of how the audience of the games you’ve played sees themselves rather than some statistical analysis of play patterns across all gamers. The latter would yield more accurate/interesting results imo.
it is a “candy crush to dark souls” spectrum thing
I played about 10 hours of some Candy Crush spinoff a month ago I can assure you that just because Candy Crush can be played casually that doesn’t mean it is a “casual” game. Those fucking games have like a million meta-systems to try to hook people for 100s of hours.
“Casual” is not a descriptor that applies to a game, but rather a descriptor that applies to a specific person’s relationship with a game.
in reality, yes, but the way the terms are used colloquially in “”“gamer culture”"", this is what they mean. How likely is your grandma to play something.
Previously on selectbutton:
What I want to know is the percentile I’m in for time spent in a specific game or my games in total, but Nintendo probably (rightfully) thinks people would be offended by that metric. And they probably want to avoid giving actual statistics so clever people can’t derive sales or other statistics the big N wants to keep secret.
imo, this thingy comes across more as a peek into how Nintendo defines its market segments, and not something that maps neatly onto the terms as used in the broader discourse.
From a business perspective, how much you play a game or a set of games is less relevant than your purchasing habits, so I’m not surprised that total playtime isn’t factoring in very much to these assessments.
I was kind of hoping Nintendo would have a “retro gamer” category, as 90% of what I own on switch is old shit.
My Switch Lite arrives tomorrow. What do you think is best handheld gaming on the Switch?
My favs are Grid Autosport, Breath of the Wild, Final Fantasy XII, and Sky Force Reloaded.
Picross!!
Download the SPELUNKER demo…
just buy zelda and pick a couple sub ten dollar games that appeal to whatever niche you find enjoyable in the handheld format and go from there.
.
Disgaea 5 if you’re a sicko like me
I bought this on steam sale and refunded it before the half hour mark. I could not tolerate any of it

I played every mainline disgaea game on their respective sony handhelds and then 6 years passed and i thought i was still that person
i was gonna make this image as well, but then i was too lazy
your service and your mind-link are both appreciated
Zelda will be in February or March methinks. That 80$ price tag stings… There’s loads of neat looking more affordable games on the platform. Im ginna preorder boxed copies for Fight’n Rage and Shiren before month is over. Fairune collection looks cute and I wanna play Guilty Gear on handheld. And Im ginna get Dark Souls.
