if this were actually square though, the title would totally be explained by the end of the game.
“358/2 days” is a really good title in the context of the game.

Did you catch this btw?
I saw a tweet that said when the K and S in Kingdom Hearts is long in the logo that means Sora is NOT the protagonist
I did not, but the Kairi stuff at the end of Melody of Memory trailer makes this more likely. So the story is “Kairi learns about what happened up to KH3” basically.
square enix sequel titles are still better than nintendo ones because it’s at least made clear that it’s a different game.
new super mario bros
new super mario bros wii
new super mario bros u
new super mario bros u deluxe
i’m only like 65% sure that all of these are different games, and i’ve played videogames my entire life, and get paid to write about videogames. how’s someone’s uninterested parent meant to know what’s going on here?
Loved how they just decided to call the new models of 2DS and 3DS the “New xDS (XL/LL)”
Three of those are separate games, and one of them is a port.
New Super Mario Bros. 2 is missing, bonus points to whoever slots it into the order correctly
I think the correct answer here is they don’t know and they also don’t care. They’ll buy the one recommended by the person who works at the shop.

I forgot to mention that “*|X’d” is pronounced “star-crossed”
Reminded that the PS2 release of Guilty Gear XX was renamed X2 in the US probably because it was too close to XXX
BMX X3 doesn’t have the same ring to it
It’s a shame they never made Final Fantasy X3

On the one hand there’ve thus far only ever been one NSMB game on any given console (unless you count NSMB2 being on 3DS, which you shouldn’t, but it also has a very obvious 2) and the only that’s the same game as another one is also the only SMB game on its console (Switch). And their releases are pretty far apart. There’s little room for real confusion if you’re paying attention.
On the other hand, they are terrible names.
For anyone who hasn’t gotten around to one of the decade’s best games yet because it was on an annoying storefront:
“new super mario bros.” as a game title reminds me of being too embarrassed to say like really bizarre movie sequel / franchise titles.
like lmao this fucker said ‘one for “spider-man: far from home” please.’ it’s just spider-man. no one is going to be confused about what movie you want, there’s only one.
