okay I know Nintendo looks bad and all

but consider that their extensive and exhaustive internal archival efforts means we got to play the Game Boy Vanilla Ice game

I talk trash but I respect the craft. It’s a lot of work to make a jank af looking N64 game in unreal.

Sega lost the source to PD Saga

Nintendo has two different unreleased versions of the fucking Vanilla Ice game

This actually doesn’t look so bad at first glance.

Well, the excessive grass swaying combined with the floatiness of the physics makes it seem like everything’s taking place at the bottom of the sea.

But still. Better lighting than any of the Mario videos I’ve seen.

M2 came out and said that Collection of Mana is Switch exclusive because Square lost the source code to SD3 and had to go back to the master they submitted to Nintendo, who just pulled it out of their archive because they just keep copies of every single thing submitted to them forever

this video begins with a closeup on mario’s shiny-denim clad ass

To add insult to injury, it’s the shindou version, a fix they came up with in '97 when they still cared to do that sort of thing. R.I.P. Gay Bowser.

Yeah everyone knows only Waluigi and Wario wear the shiny denim.

Best part of Broken Sword 5 was this disaffected, anarchist garçon, vindicating my choice of video game piracy:

I used to buy a lot of new video-games, especially computer games. Now the general process of buying new games has gotten unpleasant for me to the point that I don’t really do that anymore.
DRM is not exclusively to blame, but it is a major factor.

that gamegear mini with the aleste collection is so cute!

also a bit bummed that it’s just called aleste collection (implying more aren’t coming) and that it only includes the master system/game gear games. I dunno, it would just be cool to see msx/msx2 games get nice m2 ports

the mega cd and snes alestes are also conspicuous by their absence

I have the same concern but am hoping it’s just that they wanted them grouped by platform/era and we’ll see another one with the 16-bit games sometime. Also chomping at the bit for the Toaplan releases.

M2 porting old games: yes

M2 porting Data East games: okay

No Edward Randy port: god is dead
