this is very well timed because the kids music thread has caused me to ruminate on the topic of âstuff that seems appealing for children but is not necessarily meant for them, which one engages with intensely as a child even though one has a sense that there is something vaguely sinister and off-putting about itâ
and for me the monty python animations definitely fit squarely within that category alongside the weirder âthey might be giantsâ songs. in fact i canât think of very many other things that still inspire this exact sensation of foreboding and repulsion.
