STUNLOCK THE PRESSES: combo breaking news (Part 1)

I loved Pikmin 1 and 2 but never got a Wii U, so I’m pretty excited to finally play this game. Who here’s played it? Any good?

I think Pikmin 3 is very good. I agree with VastleCania about the relative ranking of the entries in the series, though. The original is still the best one.

3 is definitely worth looking forward to if you haven’t played it. I still haven’t tried the co-op but plan to one day.

Anybody ever play the 3DS one?

is this like warhammer xcom? because that would make some sense

It received high praise from me:

The co-op is definitely the thing.

i don’t suppose they’ll put the co-op online

I messed with the in-store kiosk demo and it’s a dramatically different kind of game. It seemed like a kind of simplistic 2.5 platformer where you use the different types of pikmin to get past obstacles. Something about it did charm me but it seemed really slight and probably oriented toward younger audiences.

3DS Pikmin is bad. It’s just so half-baked in every aspect, completely mediocre. I recommend Kirby Mass Attack as an alternative because at least that had variety.

Pikmin 3 on the other hand is great! My dear friend and I routinely play Bingo Battle. That mode has so many ideas in it! It’s a lot of fun to sneak a squad of Pikmin into enemy territory and steal the opponent’s victory macaron before they know what’s going on. Also fun to launch a barrage of boulders that squish >75% of their Pikmin.

Pikmin 3 is the closest it comes to a traditional RTS (at least in single player) just because you can kinda optimise resource gathering to a much greater extent than in 1.

Best fruit juice in any game. Period.

The only thing deluxe about this Pikmin 3 rerelease is my dissatisfaction with Nintendo for not announcing Mario 3D World for Switch first.

wait is it online or not, i read a blurb somewhere that main game was co-op now but that doesn’t quite sound real

This is bound to happen soon right? They’ve rereleased almost every other Wii-U exclusive
Would love some extra content for that game, my sister and I played through it twice back when it came out, the co-op play rules

I hope so!

Please skim through this glorious trainwreck of an event

Horrifying. It’s full of cold corporate not quite ‘feigned enthusiasm’ with people saying how excited they are and talking about their work history in flat unexcited monotone. Everyone is talking like they are at a job interview for a job they need but don’t want.
Also, the system and games look atrociously bad.

Six people from Earthworm Jim video-conferencing and and announcing they are working on Earthworm Jim 4 was the best part. Especially when Tommy makes a joke that I would have taken as him 100% being genuine due to the tone of everything leading up to that moment, had it not been for the practiced shocked responses of the others.
Then they show a few seconds of the game. Earthworm Jim walks from left to right and exits the screen, and that’s it.

i’ve never trusted tommy tallarcio and his rehearsed hand movements.

I think a lot about how Rebecca Heineman and Jennell Jaquays were early folks on this project, and early promoters on this project, and now seem to be no longer connected to it but fucking Doug Tennepel sure is!
