I honestly am not gonna watch season 3 because of this bizarre nonsense, if they can’t be assed then why should I
When’s season 2 of Andor?
next year sometime
When’s Episode 0?
Mandalorian is also kind of underwhelming after Andor, but so far I feel like it’s an improvement over S2. I think I will continue to enjoy watching this show as long as they keep going to weird new planets and there’s at least one gross little Muppet man or something in every episode. The first episode was otherwise a bummer but the pirate king at the end was cool as hell. Then the one they had in the second episode was so great, kind of like Grievous x1000. Just an evil slime covered robot/bug hybrid with no backstory whatsoever, no dialogue but he’s in it a lot before dying very violently. I bet he already has a ridiculous name but I never want to know it. I also really liked in that episode that Bo Katan finally just admitted the Mandalorian lore is too damn complicated to keep track of
I liked the robot guy, that was cool.
Definitely getting Book of Boba Fett vibes this season. The last two episodes haven’t really been about anything, they’re just the first two levels of Mandalorian: Fallen Order, where you land at the planet, Mando narrates what he’s doing to his mascot character, he gets in a fight with four space orks, then he gets captured. You then play as Baby Yoda as you backtrack through the level back to the start, then you recruit Booba Fett and play through the level again as her, defeating the robot mech.
I dunno, I kinda hope this Mandalorian planet story doesn’t keep going on for too much longer. At the very least, I hope this becomes just a setting to hand episodic stories in.
idk, i still think this is a lot better than any part of boba fett, which got way too mired in really facile “character” stuff and was only good when they took the time to let temeura morrison say something other than “i am boba fett” or just like go about his business in the desert without dialogue
the one aspect of the mandalorian that i feel kind of fell by the wayside in s2 that seems to be back this season (hopefully) is really just letting each episode marinate in a particular atmosphere for a long time. like, i get that it’s not for everyone, but for me peak mandalorian is when he’s just like silently walking around some weird alien landscape and killing shit. part of me is like ‘oooh that’s problematic… the mandalorian does wanton violence to many animals and creatures just trying to survive’ and like yeah there is definitely something super racist about the underground barbarian orcs who live in the wastelands of mandalore or whatever. but there is also part of me that still appreciates this stuff as a riff on like conan the barbarian stories (also super racist btw! like not even in metaphorical ways, just outright verrrrrry explicitly racist) or frank frazetta era hardcore fantasy art and shit.
i just sort of like to see people indulging in that kind of pulp aesthetic i guess, especially if they don’t feel so self-conscious that they need to wrap it all up in exposition or like, parts where you are supposed to think about how the mandalorian’s life of violence has taken its toll on his soul or whatever. i think in the context of the greater star wars universe it works very well because there is this kind of like, anti-life attitude that he has that falls somewhere in between the (imo much less realistic) pseudo-pacifist/secretly fascist Jedi and openly fascist, sanctioned violence-fan Empire. just a man trying to make his way in the galaxy…
being able to look at a new cool monster or muppet man every week is still pretty good but this season not having a proper ludwig göransson score feels like a step down. like if you’re trying to do a samurai jack and have it be 90% about aesthetic they really lost a big part of it
He really is so good at soundtracks. Kind of embarrassing for most others doing it these days
i have no idea why they made an episode of mando that’s like if andor was an NBC procedural but i do still fundamentally like seeing all the ground level stuff in a star war i guess even if it is uh…nazi scientist POV. don’t know who this episode was even for. everything i see of how the new republic plays out convinces me that saw gerrera was right lol
i always wonder what games and holodramas saw guerrera kept on his data tapes
I could not remember what this guy did earlier in the show, so I looked it up. He took DNA from Baby Yoda, then he abandoned the idea of cloning troops, and built the fully-robotic dark troopers from Dark Forces, then all of those died in one hit by Luke Skywalker.
So it’s weird he’s back to cloning since he never actually did any of that in the show? But I guess the plot just needs him to be brainwashed and have his tools so he can make the big bad for this season: A supersoldier Yoda in MANDALORIAN dark trooper armor, who wields dual darksabers from his wrist holsters. Then Luke Skywalker shows up and fucks him up in ONE HIT, great season.
today’s episode of mando made ahmed best’s jedi character from the kids game show an incredibly important part of canon and that genuinely put a smile on my face
i really think it is time to revisit jarjar. an arc of, say, the bad batch redeeming that character would be really well received at this point imo.
give me decolonial jarjar overthrowing the naboo human ruling class under the shadow of empire
He refuses to speak English and communicates only in old gungan because he’s sick of no one taking him seriously
I do want to give a special shout out to all the spouses and roommates and partners who got to patiently listen to a 20 minute monologue about who that guy is last night
goofy alien blues song, tim meadows as a middle manager, the big purple man from the cartoon, the swamp thing monster goin nuts, this was a fun one
I went to Disneyland last weekend and you know what all their new star wars shit is pretty neat
