I am with the previous posters that Danny of Game Grumps calls them boards and I lose it everytime.
Yeah, I remember seeing “boards” in a game magazine around 2000 or so but don’t remember which one.
“Level” is applicable if you are ascending/descending and prefer not to use “floor”. I like it in that context.
“Boards” could be used for Mario Party games but not much else
waves
patterns
oh yeah phases is cool too
In the game of scientific research, phases are worlds and trials are levels.
in the new amplitude its BRAIN REGIONS instead of levels
edit: the bonus levels are called ANCILLARY NEURAL PATHWAYS
I think I tend to use Level if it’s long or big, and Stage if it’s a single screen or close to it.
So Mario has levels, Peggle has stages.
Y’know?
somebody should make a game that uses all of these terms only once
start off in level 1, head off to zone 1, then to phase 1, etc, etc
Was gonna make a biblical chapter/verse joke suggestion but then remembered Bayonetta and probably others have done that.
Bayo uses Verse but I can’t remember if it uses it just for the main encounters of a chapter or the whole chapter
This thread is making waves.
